Set against the gritty backdrop of Manila's neon-lit streets, *Serpiente* is a raw and unfiltered Filipino miniseries that peels back the layers of love, friendship, and betrayal among a group of young men navigating the urban jungle. When a tight-knit circle of friends finds their loyalties tested by secrets, desire, and reckless nights, the fragile bonds of trust begin to unravel. The series follows the entangled lives of David Cabawatan's charismatic but troubled lead, Lava Haganos' brooding best friend, and Kaleb Ong's enigmatic newcomer whose arrival sparks tension and longing. Despite its short four-episode runtime, *Serpiente* offers an unpolished, slice-of-life glimpse into messy relationships and the consequences of chasing passion without restraint. What makes this series stand out is its willingness to embrace realism over gloss—awkward silences, drunken confessions, and the painful aftermath of betrayal are laid bare. While production constraints are evident, the earnest performances from the young cast, particularly Kaleb Ong's nuanced turn, inject genuine emotion into a narrative that feels both chaotic and deeply human.

I wanted to love the gritty Manila aesthetic, but the cinematography was so dark I couldn't see the actors' faces half the time. The laundry shot in episode one went on forever. The actors tried their best, but the director clearly had no vision. A wasted opportunity for something edgy.

Okay, I know the plot is a mess, but I couldn't look away whenever Kaleb and David shared a scene. Their chemistry felt so raw and real, even with the awkward script. If you're a shipper at heart and can ignore the nonsensical story, there's something sweet buried in here.

This is what happens when you film without a script. Random scenes of guys drinking, hooking up, and fighting with no emotional payoff. The announcement promised eight episodes, then it just ended after four. Absolutely disrespectful to the viewers and the cast. Avoid unless you're a completionist.

I appreciate that the series tried to show messy queer lives, but the lack of clear consent around some of the intimate scenes (and the constant drinking) made me uncomfortable. The actors shine, but the toxic dynamics are never called out. A missed chance for meaningful representation.

The soundtrack felt like someone just shuffled a random Spotify playlist. One moment a sad indie song, the next a generic EDM beat that didn't match the scene. The only highlight was the ending credits theme, which had a nice Filipino pop vibe. But overall, aural chaos.
