Seoul Blues is a poignant South Korean BL drama that delves into the messy, emotional tangle of a decades-long friendship put to the test. Jung Ha, Dae Young, and Min Ji have been inseparable since childhood, their bond a safe harbor through life's ups and downs. But when Dae Young blurts out a confession of love for Jung Ha during a drunken night, the fragile equilibrium shatters. Jung Ha, caught completely off guard, doesn't know how to respond—and before he can figure it out, Dae Young impulsively begins dating Min Ji, throwing their trio into chaos. As jealousy, buried feelings, and a meddling ex-boyfriend from Dae Young's past surface, the series explores the painful gap between who we want to be and who we are. With raw performances and a moody, intimate production style, Seoul Blues captures the ache of unspoken words, the sting of betrayal, and the fragile hope of second chances. It's a short, emotionally dense rollercoaster that will leave you questioning love, loyalty, and whether some bonds can survive the truth.

I came for the angst and stayed for the chemistry. Jeong Ri U and Choi Seung Jin are electric together—every stolen glance broke my heart. Yes, the plot is recycled from Blue Boys and Bad Guy, but the raw acting makes it feel fresh. The OST is gorgeous too. If you're a sucker for messy, dramatic friends-to-lovers, this one hits hard.

I really wanted to like this, but the script is a mess. Dae Young cheats repeatedly, Min Ji gets used and vanishes, and the communication is nonexistent. It's the same SUKFILM formula: twist, cheat, breakup, get back together in the last three minutes. The actors deserved better material. Skip unless you're a completionist.

I'm a sucker for a good soundtrack, and Seoul Blues delivers. The piano pieces and the ballads really amplified the heartache. The cinematography is also surprisingly intimate for a low-budget web series—close-ups that make you feel like you're in the room with them. Story-wise, it's nothing new, but the mood it creates is worth it.

What bothers me most is the portrayal of queer relationships as inherently toxic and full of cheating. We need more variety in gay storytelling. That said, the acting is genuinely good—especially Choi Seung Jin's nuanced performance. But the repeated cheating trope without proper accountability feels irresponsible. I wish the writers would explore other conflicts.

Visually, Seoul Blues is a step up from typical micro-budget BLs. The color grading is warm but melancholic, and the camera work makes simple conversations feel loaded. The same few locations (cafe, apartment, rooftop) are used effectively to create intimacy. I just wish the script had the same attention to detail. Still, a pleasant watch for the aesthetics alone.
