In this delightful 20-minute Korean BL short, we meet Tae Ho and Yeong Hoon, a loving and established gay couple living happily together in Seoul. Their peaceful domestic life—filled with affectionate glances, cozy meals, and easy intimacy—is suddenly thrown into chaos when Yeong Hoon's younger brother, Yeong Min, arrives for an unexpected visit. Panicked, the couple scrambles to hide every trace of their romantic relationship, quickly pretending to be nothing more than roommates. What follows is a charming and often hilarious game of hide-and-seek as they try to keep their secret. But this isn't just a comedy of errors; underneath the frantic cover-ups lies a surprisingly touching tale of family, acceptance, and a twist that will make you rethink everything you saw. Produced by acclaimed indie studio Strongberry, 'Secret Roommate' stands out for celebrating the easy, confident love of a long-term couple—a rarity in BL dramas—and delivers a heartwarming message about what truly makes a family.

I absolutely adore how this short focuses on an already established couple. Their kisses are so natural and cute—no awkward straight-acting here! The way they steal little moments to reaffirm their love even while panicking about the brother is just perfect. More BLs should take notes. My only complaint? I wanted at least another 20 minutes!

What a breath of fresh air to see a couple that's already comfortable with each other, complete with supplies for safe sex shown without any shame. The brother's behavior was off-putting at first, but the twist at the end reframes it beautifully—he's actually testing his older brother's partner out of concern. The film makes a lovely statement about family acceptance and the importance of understanding. Minor note: I wish the slap scene had been handled with more care.

It's fun and the lead couple has good chemistry, but the short length really hurts the story. The ending feels abrupt, and the brother's character arc gets resolved too quickly—one phone call doesn't cut it. Also, the acting in the slap scene was awkward and inconsistent. Still, for a 20-minute watch, it's entertaining enough, and I admire them trying something different with the twist.

You can tell this was made on a very low budget—the lighting is inconsistent, sound levels waver, and the camerawork is mostly static. But somehow, the sincere performances and the clever storytelling make up for the technical flaws. The fixed frames actually add a cozy, intimate feel that matches the domestic setting. It's not a visual masterpiece, but it's effective and surprisingly rewatchable.
