Picking up where the original series left off, *School Trip: Joined a Group I’m Not Close To After Story* is a two-episode special that deepens the tender romance between Hioki Asahi and Watarai Tsukasa. Now in their third year of high school, the boys find themselves in different classes, leaving them with fewer everyday moments together. But when a typhoon forces an unexpected staycation, they seize the chance to reconnect. What follows is a beautifully intimate exploration of their growing comfort with each other—full of shy glances, jealous pouts, and, for the first time, honest conversations about their feelings. Director and cast deliver a warm, low-stakes continuation that prioritizes emotional authenticity over drama. While short, these episodes pack in all the sweetness and vulnerability fans fell in love with, offering a satisfying glimpse into a relationship maturing past first love jitters. Perfect for viewers who crave soft, slice-of-life romance with a touch of unexpected heat.

This special gave me everything I wanted! Jealous Watarai, shy Hioki, and that unexpected make-out session? Yes please. The second episode was pure fluff and communication goals. I rewatched it three times already.

Episode 1 felt like a wasted setup—just a long make-out scene without substance. Episode 2 redeemed the special with actual conversation and character growth, but the pacing was off. Still, better than most BL specials.

I loved the emotional honesty in episode 2, but the first episode had a red flag for me—Watarai locking the door and ignoring Hioki's 'wait' made me uncomfortable. The second episode handled consent better with open communication. Mixed feelings.

The blue-and-orange color palette in episode 2 was gorgeous—really sold the cozy, intimate mood. The close-ups during their talk were beautifully lit. Shame episode 1 was so dark and messy with the blocking.
