Xia Xi Qing has mastered the art of deception. With his angelic face and effortless charm, he’s everyone’s favorite playboy—cool, confident, and commitment-phobic. But behind the mask lies a fractured soul shaped by a difficult childhood. His carefully constructed world shatters when he accidentally reveals his true self in front of the one person he worships: his idol. What begins as a disastrous first encounter—full of misunderstandings, humiliation, and raw vulnerability—slowly unravels into something neither expected. As his idol sees through the facade, a reluctant connection sparks, forcing both to confront their own demons. *Rose and Renaissance* is a laugh-out-loud yet deeply emotional Thai BL that blends fizzy comedy with heartfelt drama. It explores how first love can bloom from the ruins of trauma, and how the most guarded hearts can learn to trust again. With a charismatic playboy lead, a possessive love interest, and a story that balances steamy tension with genuine warmth, this adaptation of a beloved web novel promises a rollercoaster of feels.

I am completely in love with this show! Xia Xi Qing's transformation from a cocky playboy to someone who actually feels is so beautifully written. The chemistry between the leads is off the charts—every glance, every touch had me screaming. That first kiss scene? I rewatched it five times. If you want a BL that makes you laugh, cry, and swoon, this is it.

Enjoyable enough, but the pacing drags in the middle episodes and some of the comedic beats feel forced. The trauma backstory is interesting but could have been explored more deeply instead of being resolved too quickly. Still, the main actors carry the show well, and the final act redeems a lot of the messiness. Not groundbreaking, but a solid watch.

Visually, this series is a treat. The color grading shifts from warm, golden tones in the romantic scenes to cooler, desaturated hues during the emotional lows—storytelling through color. The camera work during the rooftop confession is some of the best I've seen in Thai BL. Every frame feels intentional. It's not perfect, but it's gorgeous to look at.

As a fan of the original web novel, I was excited, but the drama makes some frustrating changes. They toned down the lead's darker side and added more slapstick comedy, which shifts the tone. The emotional core is still there, but the pacing feels rushed compared to the novel. It's a decent adaptation if you haven't read the source, but purists might feel let down.

The OST absolutely carries the emotional weight of this series. Every major scene is paired with a song that hits just right—especially 'Falling Like a Rose' which plays during the climax. I've had it on repeat for weeks. The background score is subtle but effective, building tension and sweetness. Even if the plot has flaws, the music makes it unforgettable.
