When Sky’s mom decides her son needs a roommate, she volunteers James—the shy, quiet son of her old friend—to move in. Sky is outgoing and popular, but he reluctantly agrees to share his already cramped university room. At first, the two are awkward strangers, fumbling through shared space and painfully see-through bathroom doors. Yet as days pass, their tentative smiles and accidental touches begin to speak louder than words. James, secretly nursing a crush, finds himself blushing at every glance, while Sky starts to notice a warmth he can't quite name. This micro-series captures the tender, nerve-racking thrill of a first crush blooming under the same roof. With only four main episodes and a special, *Roommate* delivers a sweet, low-stakes love story that feels like a gentle hug. But be warned: the final episodes include a controversial scene that tests the series' otherwise wholesome vibe. Watch for the genuine charm of two boys learning that love might just be a shared bed away.

I binged this in one sitting and honestly, I fell for the awkward sweetness of Sky and James! The way James blushes every time Sky walks out of that foggy bathroom… so cute. Yes, the girls are annoying, but just fast-forward through their parts. The special episode gave me the ending I needed. Perfect for a lazy Sunday.

This series had potential but squandered it all on filler scenes with the two fujoshi friends. The main couple's development is rushed—first kiss happens off-screen in a montage? And then episode 4 is a disaster. The rape kiss bait was unnecessary and poorly handled. Even the special couldn't fully fix the mess. Watch the first three episodes only if you must.

I wanted to like this, but the scene in episode 4 where James kisses Sky while he's drunk/sleeping is a major red flag. It's played off as romantic but it's actually non-consensual. The series tries to walk it back in the special, but the damage is done. For a 'sweet' BL, this was disturbing. Avoid if you care about healthy consent.

Visually this is a low-budget mess—washed out colors, shaky framing, and that ridiculous clinic nurse costume. But there's an earnest charm to the cramped room setting. The lighting in the bathroom scenes actually works well to create intimacy. I appreciated the attempt at atmosphere despite the obvious limitations. Soundtrack is a single loop, but it's pleasant enough.

I rarely give high scores to micro-series, but the main theme song got stuck in my head for weeks. The music really amplifies those quiet moments between Sky and James. Yes, it's rough around the edges, but the OST lifts the whole experience. I keep the song on my playlist. Also, the special episode's final kiss scene with the song swelling made me tear up. Beautiful.
