In the quiet halls of a Korean university, professor Yeong Il pours his soul into poetry lectures that few truly appreciate—until Jae Hyun walks in. Jae Hyun isn't there for the verses; he's there for the man reciting them. What begins as a student's quiet infatuation soon becomes a tender pursuit, with Jae Hyun seeking private lessons as a pretext to bridge the gap between them. Yeong Il, guarded and lonely, resists at first, but the younger man's relentless warmth starts to crack his defenses. This short film from Strongberry masterfully uses silence and sparse music to underline the professor's isolation, making every shared moment—each stolen glance, each hesitant touch—feel profound. Their age gap isn't a scandal; it's a fragile bridge built on genuine connection. With understated performances and a heartfelt script, *Private Lessons* explores how love can bloom in the most unexpected classrooms, reminding us that poetry isn't in the words—it's in the longing between them.

I'm absolutely smitten with this short film! The way Jae Hyun just *looks* at the professor melts me. Their hand-holding scene at the end is the sweetest thing I've ever seen. It's rare to find a BL that balances age-gap romance with such genuine warmth—no drama, just two people falling in love. Highly recommend if you want something soft and heartfelt.

I appreciate that the film normalizes intergenerational gay relationships without making them a scandal, but the power dynamic here gives me pause. A teacher and student, no matter how sweet, raise real questions about consent and professional boundaries. The movie glosses over this. Fine as a romance fantasy, but not something I'd call progressive without acknowledging the imbalance.

The director's choice to use complete silence for most of the runtime is so bold and effective. You can *feel* the professor's loneliness in every empty hallway shot. When the music finally kicks in during their embrace, it's like a release. The lighting is soft and natural—perfect for this intimate story. A masterclass in visual storytelling.

I wanted to love this more, but it felt underdeveloped. The student's instant devotion is never really explained—why is he so obsessed with a poetry professor? The lack of conflict or depth makes it feel like a sweet fantasy rather than a real story. The performances are nice, but there's not enough meat on these bones for me to fully buy into the romance.

As someone who judges BLs by their music, this one is a gem. The sparse sound design—ambient noise, then sudden silence—perfectly mirrors the professor's isolated world. When that soft piano finally plays during their walk home, I got chills. The ending tune is quirky and joyful, completely contrast to the start. The soundtrack IS the emotional arc.
