In this electrifying prequel to a planned Taiwanese BL series, we meet two men on a collision course with fate. Yang Qi An, the illegitimate son of a powerful politician, is nursing a burning desire for revenge after his mother's tragic suicide—a death tied to a political conspiracy. To get close to his father and dismantle his empire, Qi An pretends to go along with an arranged marriage. But his father is always one step ahead. Enter Yuan Shao Hu, a dedicated police officer who stumbles into Qi An's dangerous world. After a night of celebrating his promotion, Shao Hu arrives home to find his lover, Qi An, has disappeared. The next day, on duty at a high-profile wedding, Shao Hu is shocked to see the groom is none other than his missing boyfriend. What follows is a tense, moody, and romantic 10-minute short film (with a full 20-minute version crowdfunded) that sets the stage for a gripping saga of family secrets, police investigations, and forbidden love. This is a bold, genre-bending teaser that promises a full series blending mystery, crime, and queer romance with a distinctly Taiwanese flavor.

I am absolutely fascinated by the setup! The chemistry between Yuan Shao Hu and Yang Qi An is electric even in this short teaser. I love the tension of a police officer and a vengeful son pretending to go along with an arranged marriage. I just wish we got the full 20 minutes—it's so hard to wait for the series!

I respect the crowdfunding effort, but releasing only half the short film publicly is a questionable strategy. The 10-minute cut feels like a trailer rather than a proper story. The plot is intriguing, but the pacing is rushed and the synopsis does more heavy lifting than the actual footage. Needs more polish to hook international audiences.

Visually, this short has a nice moody color palette and some interesting camera angles during the wedding scene. But the editing feels choppy—likely because only half the material was shown. I appreciate the stylish police uniform shots and the contrast between the dark night scenes and the bright wedding. Would love to see the full version for a complete visual experience.

The arranged marriage plot is fraught with problematic dynamics, especially with Qi An's revenge motive overshadowing any genuine consent. The series seems to use dark themes like suicide and political coercion as backdrops for romance, which feels a bit uncomfortable. That said, the leads have good potential if the full series addresses these issues with more nuance.
