Plus & Minus is a tender, slow-burn Taiwanese BL that explores the beautiful messiness of falling for your best friend—even if you've known them for 20 years. The series weaves together two love stories: the main couple, Zheng Ze Shou (a sunny, carefree lawyer) and Fu Li Gong (his more serious, quietly pining colleague), have been inseparable since kindergarten. But when a drunken confession shatters their comfortable friendship, they're forced to navigate the terrifying line between brotherhood and romance. Their journey is filled with stolen glances, late-night conversations, and the weight of unspoken feelings that have simmered for decades.

Alongside them, a second couple blooms: Yuki, a charismatic bartender, and Ying Ze, a jaded but soft-at-heart single father who runs a laundromat. Their story is a more fast-paced, flirty counterbalance to the main pair's tension, offering a sweet dose of found family with Ying Ze's adorable daughter, Ling Ling.

What makes Plus & Minus special is its grounded, adult perspective—these are working professionals dealing with parental expectations, career pressures, and the terrifying prospect of losing their most important relationship. The show doesn't shy away from the awkwardness of transition, the fear of rejection, and the quiet moments that define real intimacy. While it stumbles in its later episodes with a somewhat contrived conflict, the emotional core remains strong, buoyed by genuine performances and a soundtrack that lingers. It's a drama that rewards patience, offering a satisfying emotional payoff for anyone who's ever wondered what it means to risk everything for love.

I absolutely adored this drama! The slow burn between Ze Shou and Li Gong had me on the edge of my seat. Their chemistry is so natural—you can feel the years of friendship and hidden longing in every glance. The wedding scene in episode 12 made me cry happy tears. Yes, the middle got a bit messy with that breakup, but the sweet moments (the camping trip! the keychains!) more than made up for it. If you're a sucker for friends-to-lovers like me, this is a must-watch.

Started off strong, but the writers clearly ran out of ideas after episode 8. The break-up in episode 10 is one of the most contrived, nonsensical plot devices I've ever seen. Li Gong's sudden decision to push Ze Shou away for his 'own good' completely contradicts his character. It's like they needed drama but forgot how to write it naturally. The side couple is boring, and the pacing drags. I'd recommend stopping at episode 8 and pretending the rest doesn't exist.

The music in this show is so underrated! The opening theme really captures the bittersweet feeling of unrequited love, and the instrumental score during the emotional scenes is gorgeous. I found myself humming the melody for days. The show itself is a solid friends-to-lovers story—nothing groundbreaking, but the leads have good chemistry and there are plenty of heart-fluttering moments. The quality of the OST alone makes this worth watching.

Honestly, I was here for Yuki and Ying Ze. Their story was fluffy, sweet, and had that perfect found-family vibe with the little girl. The flirty bartender + shy single dad dynamic was everything I didn't know I needed. The main couple? They were okay, but the whole 'childhood best friends' trope feels a bit overdone. Still, the show is pretty and the acting is decent. If you're a side couple lover like me, you'll enjoy it—just don't expect much depth.

Visually, this show is a treat. The color grading is warm and inviting, and the lighting in the law office scenes gives off a cozy yet professional vibe. I loved the contrast between the bright, open spaces of the laundromat and the softer, more intimate lighting in the main couple's scenes. The cinematography isn't flashy, but it serves the story well. Special mention to the episode 12 wedding sequence—the golden hour shots were stunning.

I have mixed feelings. On one hand, the show tackles the pressure of coming out to family in a sensitive way, and Li Gong's internalized homophobia is handled with nuance. But on the other hand, the way the female bartender's 'love advice' storyline plays out is problematic. And the whole 'I'm breaking up with you for your own good' trope is not only tiresome but also reinforces toxic ideas about sacrifice. The leads' chemistry is real, but the writing lets them down.

This is NOT an action BL. I came in expecting some conflict or at least a fight scene, but it's just two lawyers staring at each other and talking about feelings. The 'fight scene' in episode 6 is laughably bad—a slap and a few pushes? That's it? If you want real action, watch HIStory3: Make Our Days Count or something. This is pure fluff with no stakes. Bored me to tears.

I haven't read the original novel (if there is one), but as a standalone drama, this is a decent adaptation of the 'best friends to lovers' trope. The pacing in the first half is excellent—they take time to establish the relationship. But the second half feels rushed and the conflict is forced. I wish they'd focused more on the slow burn rather than inserting unnecessary drama. Still, the actors are charming and the wedding ending is cute. Not the best Taiwanese BL, but not the worst either.
