In 'Perfect Propose: Dream Edition,' Hiro, a meticulous proposal planner who has never experienced love himself, is hired to orchestrate the ultimate romantic gesture for a demanding client. His path crosses with Kaito, a gifted but unconventional chef whose culinary creations speak louder than words. As they collaborate on crafting the perfect proposal, their late-night cooking sessions and shared meals slowly dissolve Hiro's carefully constructed walls, revealing a connection that transcends professional boundaries. This Japanese BL film adapts Tsurukame Mayo's beloved manga, serving up a delicate, slow-burn romance where food becomes the language of love and vulnerability. With stunning food cinematography and heartfelt performances by Horai Tadaaki and Kaneko Shunya, the story explores whether two people who dedicate their lives to making others happy can finally learn to be happy themselves. A sweet, intimate, and visually delightful watch for anyone craving a gentle love story with a side of delicious comfort.

I am absolutely melted by this film. The way Hiro and Kaito connect over food is so tender and genuine—I felt every stolen glance and quiet smile. The cooking scenes are pure art, and the final proposal had me ugly crying. A perfect comfort watch for hopeless romantics!

It's cute and well-acted, but the plot is paper-thin. You can guess every beat from the first five minutes. The resolution feels a bit rushed too. I wanted more conflict or depth—still, it's a pleasant enough hour and a half if you just want fluffy vibes.

Visually, this film is a feast. The warm lighting in the kitchen, the close-ups of ingredients being prepped, the soft color palette—every frame feels like a photograph. The director clearly put thought into composition. Even if the story is simple, the aesthetic alone makes it worth watching.

As a huge fan of the manga, I appreciate how faithfully they adapted the core relationship and food scenes. A few of my favorite side moments were cut, and the pacing felt slightly compressed, but the casting is spot-on and the emotional beats land well. A solid adaptation overall.

The OST is incredibly underrated. The piano theme that plays during the shared cooking scenes tugs at your heartstrings perfectly. It's subtle but elevates every romantic moment. I've already added it to my playlist. The sound design—sizzling pans, chopping sounds, soft whispers—immerses you completely.
