PaLoMa is a deeply heartfelt Filipino miniseries that follows the intertwined lives of three transgender women—Pa, Lo, and Ma—whose unbreakable childhood friendship carries them through the joys and heartaches of young adulthood. Blending lighthearted comedy with raw, emotional drama, the story explores their individual quests for love, acceptance, and self-worth in a society that often marginalizes them. When romantic interests and a charismatic outsider enter their circle, old bonds are tested, secrets surface, and each character must confront painful realities about trust, loyalty, and personal safety. The series doesn’t shy away from the harshness of discrimination and betrayal, yet it also celebrates the resilience found in chosen family. With earnest performances from its trans leads, PaLoMa offers an authentic, unfiltered glimpse into LGBTQ+ life in the Philippines—poignant, messy, and ultimately unforgettable.

I appreciate the effort to center trans characters, but the story felt meandering and left too many threads unresolved. The comedy fell flat in the gym episode, yet the ending was genuinely powerful. Good acting for a low-budget show, just inconsistent writing.

I loved seeing young trans girls portrayed with such authenticity, and the friendship was beautiful. But the final twist—a murder that goes unpunished—left me furious. What message does that send? That being yourself leads to death with no justice? A disappointing, harmful ending.

The bond between Pa, Lo, and Ma tugged at my heart. I wish there had been more sweet romantic moments, but the friendship was so real and moving. The little kid flashback nearly made me cry. Not a typical fluffy BL, but worth it for the emotional payoff.

Considering the budget, the cinematography is surprisingly competent—natural lighting and intimate close-ups that capture raw emotion. The color palette feels appropriately warm then cold as the tone shifts. Pacing could be tighter, but the visual storytelling has moments of real grace.
