At 33 years old, Soichi Haruta is a single salaryman who just can't seem to catch a break in love. But his mundane office life is turned upside down when he suddenly becomes the object of affection for not one, but two men: his gruff but devoted boss, Musashi Kurosawa, and his handsome, easygoing roommate and coworker, Hasegawa. Caught in a whirlwind of dramatic confessions, awkward encounters, and over-the-top declarations, Haruta must navigate his own feelings while questioning everything he thought he knew about love and attraction. This 2016 pilot special is the hilarious and heartwarming origin of the beloved Ossan's Love franchise, packed with cringe-comedy, genuine sweetness, and a surprisingly tender exploration of self-discovery. Buckle up for a 48-minute rollercoaster that launched a BL phenomenon.

I can't believe how much I loved this! Tanaka Kei absolutely nails Haruta's awkwardness and confusion, and the chemistry with both love interests is off the charts. The confessions made me scream into my pillow – so cringey but so adorable! That ending had me grinning for hours. Must-watch for any BL fan!

I get why people like it, but the plot is paper-thin and relies entirely on over-the-top comedy. The whole 'who's the girl?' question felt clumsily handled, and the resolution was too rushed. If you want a quick laugh it's fine, but don't expect depth or a coherent romance.

As a pilot, it's entertaining, but I have to flag the non-consensual touching and the almost-kiss without permission. It's played for laughs but feels uncomfortable. Still, I appreciate how the story challenges Haruta's initial homophobic assumptions, and the final message is positive. Just be aware of the content warnings.

The camera work and lighting are very basic – it looks like a low-budget TV special from 2010, not 2016. The acting is good but the production value really dragged it down for me. I wish they had put more effort into the visuals to match the charm of the story.

This pilot is gold! I laughed so hard during the shower scene and the boss's dramatic confessions. Haruta's journey from 'I'm straight' to maybe-not-so-straight is portrayed with such humor and heart. I've already rewatched it twice and I keep finding new funny details. Pure joy in 48 minutes!
