In the quiet hum of a Tokyo office, Fumihara Ichiro and Higashi Kei discover an unexpected connection that transcends their daily grind—a shared passion for cinema. Ichiro, a seasoned senior employee with a guarded heart, finds himself drawn to Kei’s earnest enthusiasm, while Kei looks up to Ichiro as both a mentor and a quiet enigma. As they bond over late-night film screenings and behind-the-scenes conversations, their professional rapport slowly blossoms into something more tender and vulnerable. But Ichiro’s insecurity about their ten-year age gap and Kei’s fear of overstepping boundaries create a delicate dance of unspoken feelings. Adapted from a beloved web manga, this Japanese BL delicately explores the beauty of finding love in the most ordinary places—a shared laugh, a stolen glance, a hand brushed in the dark. With a cast that brings palpable warmth and nuance, *Ordinary Love* is a heartfelt, slow-burn romance that reminds us that the most extraordinary connections often begin with the simplest moments.

I am absolutely melted by this drama. The way Ichiro and Kei look at each other during their movie nights—my heart can't take it. It's such a gentle, realistic love story. I've already rewatched the rooftop scene five times.

While the chemistry is undeniable, the pacing drags in episodes 5 and 6 with repetitive workplace montages. I wish they had trimmed a few of the sideplot meetings and given us more development of Kei's internal conflict. Still, the finale redeems it.

The color palette is pure comfort: warm ambers at the izakaya, soft blues during office hours, and that gorgeous golden-hour scene at the movie theater entrance. Every frame feels like a film still. The director clearly loves cinema as much as the characters do.

As a huge fan of the web manga, I was nervous about the adaptation. They kept the essential sweetness but added a subplot about Ichiro's past that wasn't in the original. It works surprisingly well—it deepens his insecurity without ruining the tone. Minor cuts to Kei's movie trivia monologues, though.

I appreciate that the drama addresses the power dynamic between superior and subordinate openly. However, the resolution feels a bit too neat—Kei's hesitation about the age gap is brushed aside too quickly. A few more conversations about workplace ethics would have grounded it better.
