In the gritty underbelly of early-2000s Tokyo, private detective Goro is a man consumed by loss. Years after his partner's tragic death, he numbs his grief with alcohol and takes on seedy cases that barely pay the bills. When a suspicious wife hires him to tail her husband, Goro finds himself drawn into a web of obsession and desire. The man he's watching, a charismatic yet troubled individual, mirrors the ghost of Goro's past in unsettling ways. As Goro delves deeper, the line between investigation and voyeurism blurs, forcing him to confront his unresolved emotions and the dangerous allure of rekindling a connection through a stranger. This Japanese pink film, a rare and raw entry in the BL canon, combines explicit sexual content with a melancholic meditation on grief, loneliness, and the desperate need for intimacy. Its atmospheric direction and unflinching performances create a haunting, slow-burn experience that lingers long after the credits roll.

I went in expecting just erotica, but Goro's pain really hit me. The chemistry between the leads is raw and desperate, not sweet—but that's the point. The sadness lingers. I wish it had a happier ending, but it's beautifully tragic.

The pacing is painfully slow, and the 'detective' plot is thin at best. It relies entirely on explicit scenes to carry emotional weight, but the script doesn't give the characters enough depth to make me care. Disappointing even for a pink film.

The lighting and framing are genuinely striking—shadows cut across Goro's face like his grief. You can feel the early 2000s Japanese film grain. It's not a masterpiece, but for a low-budget pink film, the visual storytelling is impressive.

I appreciate that it tackles male grief and queer desire in a time when that was rare, but the power dynamics and the way sex is used as a coping mechanism feel exploitative rather than cathartic. It's a product of its era—interesting to analyze, but uncomfortable to watch.
