Sleep, wake, work, repeat. At 39, department head Nozue has settled into a comfortable but joyless routine, his world shrinking to a gray cycle of meetings and paperwork. Enter Togawa, his sharp-eyed 29-year-old subordinate who has quietly adored him for years. Togawa notices his boss's listlessness and proposes an unconventional ‘anti‑aging’ plan: after work, they’ll pretend to be carefree young women and indulge in the city’s most decadent desserts. What begins as a playful escape soon becomes a tender, slow‑burn seduction, where each fluffy pancake and cream‑filled pastry carries unspoken longing. As Nozue rediscovers the simple pleasures of life—and Togawa’s careful, steady devotion—the lines between boss and employee, mentor and admirer, blur into something far sweeter. With only five episodes, this series is a masterclass in subtle storytelling: gorgeous cinematography, a sublime soundtrack, and two performances so natural they feel like watching real people fall in love. It’s a story about daring to want more—regardless of age, etiquette, or fear. And it will leave you craving a slice of your own happiness.

This drama made my heart so full! Togawa and Nozue have this quiet, electric chemistry that had me smiling like an idiot the whole time. I loved how Togawa’s admiration was never pushy—he just wanted Nozue to be happy, even if it meant sharing pancakes. The alley scene in episode 4? I melted. It’s rare to see such genuine longing portrayed without being over‑the‑top. Perfect comfort watch!

I enjoyed the premise and the acting is top‑notch, but the pacing felt rushed. Five episodes is just too short to fully develop the emotional payoff—especially when the show spends so much time on dessert montages. That said, the confession scene is brilliantly written, and I appreciated that Nozue’s growth didn’t feel forced. A solid, sweet series that could have been even better with an extra episode or two.

The cinematography alone makes this worth watching. I’m a sucker for dirty framing and long handheld takes, and episode 4’s alley sequence is a masterclass in visual storytelling. The way the camera stays tight on their faces, the slight shake—it made me feel the desperation and longing. Also, the color grading is warm yet muted, perfectly capturing Nozue’s emotional range. A feast for the eyes.

As a fan of the manga, I was worried about the adaptation, but they kept the soul intact. The dialogue is almost line‑for‑line faithful in key moments. That said, the drama compresses some lovely internal monologues—especially Togawa’s backstory—and I missed a few subtle manga panels. Still, the cast’s chemistry and the food photography more than make up for it. A very good adaptation overall.

The OST is a hidden gem. The main theme has this aching, piano‑driven melody that perfectly captures Nozue’s longing and hesitation. I also loved the subtle use of ambient sounds—the sizzle of a pancake griddle, the clink of spoons—it made the food scenes feel almost ASMR. My only complaint is that the same track plays a few too many times; variety would have been nice. Still, I listen to the soundtrack on repeat.

What I appreciate most is how the drama handles the power imbalance. Nozue is the boss, but Togawa is emotionally dominant—and the show never lets us forget the complexities. The non‑consensual kiss while Nozue is asleep is problematic (and the episode doesn’t fully address it), but the overall narrative does critique Togawa’s actions through Nozue’s later discomfort. It’s a thoughtful, mature exploration of desire and consent within a hierarchical relationship. Worth discussing.
