Han Ba Da is a talented chef with a dream: opening an udon restaurant right on the beach. But his crippling shyness makes serving customers nearly impossible, leaving his little seaside shop empty. Enter Tommy, a free-spirited, homeless musician with a cheeky grin and a head for business. After a chaotic first meeting involving a car accident, Tommy insinuates himself into Ba Da's life, helping him transform the struggling udon stand into a local success. As they work side by side—cooking, singing, and watching the endless ocean—a tender romance blooms between the grumpy, anxious chef and his bubbly, persistent muse. But when Tommy's own musical ambitions call him away, Ba Da must learn to let go and trust that the ocean will bring them back together. I wanted to love this for Holland's groundbreaking casting, but the script is a mess. Scenes jump randomly, major events happen off-screen, and the plot makes zero sense. Han Gi Chan deserves better dialogue. The only saving grace is the pretty ocean shots.

Ignore the haters—this is a precious gem! Ba Da and Tommy are the cutest couple ever. I melted every time Tommy pouted. Their kisses felt so natural and real. Yes, the pacing is rushed, but the chemistry between Holland and Gichan is undeniable. I finished it in one sitting and smiled the whole time.

The cinematography is stunning. That cold, gray-blue ocean palette, the silhouettes against the sunset, the cozy interior of the udon shop—this show is a visual poem. I could watch the drone shots all day. Even the makeup (which others hate) felt refreshingly natural. The story might be disjointed, but the atmosphere alone makes it worth watching.

Holland's 'You Are My Ocean' is an absolute earworm. The OST perfectly captures the wistful, healing vibe of the show. I added it to my playlist immediately. The music elevates even the weaker scenes. If you're a fan of BL soundtracks, this one delivers.

I appreciate that this drama features an openly gay actor playing a gay character without fetishization. The relationship is healthy, no homophobia, and both leads are respectful. But the writing fails to give them a coherent story, which undermines the representation. I hope Holland gets better projects in the future.
