In the cozy corner of a bustling Seoul neighborhood, Min Ju and Ji O are two part-time workers at a BL-themed café, surrounded by the fantasies of others. But amidst the shelves of mangas and the chatter of fangirls, a quiet, real love begins to bloom between them. Min Ju, a thoughtful senior with a hidden past, and Ji O, a bright-eyed junior with dreams of acting, are thrown into a fake relationship to help Ji O prepare for a role. What starts as a scripted performance soon blurs the lines between fiction and feeling. Over the course of two emotionally charged episodes, they navigate the delicate dance of pretending — only to discover that the most genuine love stories are the ones you never see coming. 'Not a BL' is a tender, meta take on the genre, proving that sometimes the best romance is the one that isn't written for anyone but yourselves.

I absolutely adored this! The meta concept of a BL about a BL café was so clever, and the leads had incredible chemistry even with only two episodes. The fake relationship turned real trope is my jam, and they executed it perfectly. A sweet, heartfelt watch that left me smiling.

It's cute but too short to really develop anything meaningful. The fake relationship setup felt rushed, and Ji O's acting career subplot was barely explored. I wanted more depth, but for a quick snack, it's okay. Not bad, just forgettable.

The cinematography and color grading are gorgeous — warm tones that make the café feel like a hug. The close-ups during the 'pretend' scenes were beautifully framed. Strongberry always delivers on visual quality, and this is no exception. A feast for the eyes.

I appreciated how the show gently critiques the commodification of BL while still celebrating queer love. The fake relationship trope is handled with clear consent and a mutual understanding. It's not groundbreaking, but it's a respectful, low-drama portrayal that feels authentic. A solid watch.

Honestly, the music was the best part — the soft piano score during the confession scene really tugged at my heart. But the rest fell flat for me. Two episodes just aren't enough to build emotional investment, and the plot felt like a draft rather than a finished story. Disappointing.
