Nuengdiao, the sole heir to a powerful and prestigious family, has lived his entire life in a gilded cage. His status demands perfection, leaving him isolated and yearning for genuine connection. When his father is brutally gunned down before his eyes, his world shatters. Forced into hiding with his mother's life also on the line, his mother hires a bodyguard: Palm, a quiet and fiercely loyal fisherman's son from a very different world. Thrown together in a high-stakes game of survival, Nueng discovers that Palm is not just a protector but the first person to see him beyond his name. As they flee from relentless enemies, a slow-burning romance blossoms amid the danger. But their forbidden love is complicated by class divides, family secrets, and a conspiracy that runs deeper than either imagined. Never Let Me Go is a visually stunning and emotionally charged tale of first love forged in fire, where a rich heir and a poor bodyguard must learn to trust each other with their lives and their hearts.

I came for the action and wasn't disappointed. The gunfights and chase scenes are surprisingly well-choreographed for a Thai BL, and the bodyguard premise actually delivers some legit tension. Palm's fighting style feels scrappy and real, and the scene where he takes on multiple thugs at the beach house? Chef's kiss. Sure, the plot holes are there, but I was too busy enjoying the adrenaline to care. If you want a BL that doesn't shy away from action, this is it.

I am absolutely ruined. Pond and Phuwin have unmatched chemistry – the way Palm looks at Nueng with such devotion, and Nueng slowly letting his walls down… I cried so many times. Their kisses feel real, not like the usual pecks. The beach episodes were pure heaven. I don't care about plot holes, this is a love story and it's perfect. My heart is full.

I wanted to like this, but the writing is a mess. Characters act irrationally, the bodyguards are useless, and the constant 'I'll leave you for your own good' trope repeats three times in one series. Why is a high school student running a mafia empire? And the Christmas carols in serious scenes made me burst out laughing. I was bored by episode 10 and finished on 2x speed. Phuwin tries, but the script fails him.

Visually, this is one of the most beautiful BLs I've ever seen. The warm golden tones on the island, the soft lighting in intimate scenes, the way the camera captures vulnerability in close-ups – it's a feast for the eyes. Every shot feels intentional, like a painting. Even the dimly lit night scenes add to the melancholic mood. GMMTV stepped up their cinematography game big time. I'd watch this just for the aesthetic.

Honestly, I stayed for the main couple but fell in love with Chopper and Ben. Perth and Chimon have such compelling energy – Chopper's anger and vulnerability, Ben's quiet support. Their dynamic is complex and understated. Yes, they deserved more screen time, but what we got was gold. The scene where Chopper breaks down? Perth acted everyone else off the screen. Give us a spinoff, GMMTV!

I appreciate that this drama tries to tackle class disparity head-on. Nueng's privilege is acknowledged, and Palm's agency is respected even in a power-imbalanced relationship. The show avoids the typical master-servant dynamic by having Nueng constantly try to equalize the ground between them. However, the class critique is undermined by the romanticized violence and the ‘savior’ narrative. It's a step in the right direction but not perfect.

Phuwin's OST is gorgeous – his voice perfectly captures the longing and sadness of the story. Pond's theme song is also surprisingly good. But what is up with the random Christmas carols and that hideous cowboy song? They completely killed the mood in otherwise intense scenes. The soundtrack is a mixed bag: beautiful originals but bizarre choices otherwise. Still, I've been humming Phuwin's song for weeks.

As someone who read the original novel, I was excited but ultimately disappointed. The drama streamlined the plot to the point of losing the nuanced character development, especially for Nueng's internal conflict. Palm's backstory with his mother was much more fleshed out in the book. The beach arc in the novel had deeper emotional stakes – here it felt like a vacation. And the ending, while satisfying, skipped key scenes that made the novel's resolution powerful. Passable adaptation but could have been better.
