In the Thai short film 'Never Again' (2014), a charismatic university playboy who has prided himself on carefree, no-strings-attached encounters suddenly finds his world turned upside down when he meets someone who makes him truly fall in love for the first time. As he navigates this new, vulnerable relationship, the ghosts of his past – including unresolved trauma and the tangled web of previous flings – threaten to push his budding romance toward collapse. Made as part of Bang Channel's 23-short-film project, this compact story explores whether someone with a history of emotional detachment can genuinely change and commit. Stripping away the usual BL fantasy, the film delivers an honest, introspective look at self-worth, forgiveness, and the courage required to let go of old habits. With a runtime that packs surprising emotional weight, viewers will find themselves rooting for the lead's painful journey toward redemption.

I was completely swept away by the lead's vulnerability. Even though it's short, the way he struggles to trust and be loved felt so real. The chemistry between the two actors was electric – I only wish we had more scenes of them together!

The concept is interesting but the short runtime really hurts it. The main conflict is resolved way too quickly, and the trauma backstory is hinted at but never properly explored. It feels more like a teaser for a longer story that doesn't exist.

For a low-budget short film, the framing and lighting are surprisingly thoughtful. The use of warm tones during romantic moments and colder hues in flashbacks effectively mirrors the protagonist's inner turmoil. Visually, it punches above its weight.

I appreciate that the film attempts to address the emotional fallout of being a 'playboy' and the pain it can cause others. However, the lead's redemption feels a bit too neat given the implied manipulation in his past. A step in the right direction but could have gone deeper.

The background music really carries the emotional weight here. A melancholic piano piece during the confession scene gave me chills. If only the soundtrack were longer – it fits the bittersweet mood perfectly.
