What if the face staring back at you from the mirror wasn't your own? *Mystique in the Mirror* drops you into the fragmented world of Alan, a young man haunted by the ghostly apparition of an elderly stranger every time he catches his reflection. Dismissed by his father as hallucinations, Alan's terror escalates until he’s admitted to a high-end psychiatric facility. There, he meets Win, a mysterious fellow patient who slips through his window at night, offering comfort and cryptic clues. But nothing is as it seems. As Alan fights against medicated fog and suspicious doctors, he must piece together why the old man keeps whispering "Remember." This Thai psychological BL masterfully blurs the lines between reality, memory, and delusion. It’s not a straightforward romance or a simple ghost story—it’s a devastating exploration of love, loss, and identity. You’ll experience Alan’s confusion firsthand, making the final revelation hit like a freight train. Prepare for a haunting, tear-jerking journey that will stay with you long after the mirror fades to black.

I am absolutely wrecked. Alan and Win's love story is the most beautiful, tragic thing I've ever seen in a BL. Every stolen glance, every soft whisper—it all hits so much harder once you know the truth. I cried through the entire last episode. This is the kind of love that transcends time and reality. Pure masterpiece.

I appreciate the ambition, but the execution was messy. The first three episodes are deliberately confusing, which is fine, but the pacing drags. The side couples feel like filler, and the big reveal—while emotional—could have been delivered more efficiently. Why not just show Alan the video earlier? Still, the finale saved it from being a total slog.

Visually, this series is a feast. The use of mirrors, reflections, and distorted camera angles perfectly mirrors Alan's fractured mind. The lighting shifts from cold clinical blues to warm golden hues as his memories surface. Every frame feels deliberate. The shower scene with the reflection? Chillingly beautiful. Thai BL rarely looks this cinematic.

The music is what sold me. The haunting piano theme that plays whenever Alan sees the ghost—it gets under your skin. The OST isn't overbearing; it knows when to be silent, making the emotional peaks hit harder. The ending credits song still gives me chills. I've been listening to it on repeat for weeks.

I have mixed feelings. The representation of dementia and the hospital setting felt respectful overall, but the power dynamics bothered me. Alan is stripped of autonomy, medicated without full understanding, and even the romantic moments with Win have a blurred consent line given Alan's mental state. It's framed as romantic, but I wish the show had grappled more with the ethics of care in such situations.
