In the sun-drenched hallways of a Taiwanese university, two very different students collide—literally—on the basketball court. Lin Yang is a cheerful, puppy-like jock who wears his heart on his sleeve, while Gao Yan Zhi is the cool, reserved campus heartthrob who seems oblivious to the attention he receives. After an awkward tumble leaves them tangled together, a reluctant friendship begins to blossom. What starts as Lin Yang’s clumsy attempts to get closer slowly melts Gao Yan Zhi’s icy exterior, revealing a shy sweetness beneath. This eight-episode miniseries captures the thrilling uncertainty of first love, from stolen glances and shared earphones to the quiet joy of holding hands. Filmed vertically for mobile viewing, 'My Type' leans into old-school BL charm—no villains, no melodrama, just two ordinary guys figuring out their feelings in the most adorable way. It’s a nostalgic, sugar-sweet escape that proves love doesn’t need grand gestures; sometimes all it takes is one awkward spill to find your perfect match.

I absolutely melted watching Lin Yang chase after Gao Yan Zhi like a lost puppy. The chemistry is off the charts for such a short series! Sure, the vertical filming took a moment to get used to, but the pure fluff and genuine smiles made it totally worth it. Perfect when I needed something warm and simple.

It's cute, but let's be honest: the story is paper-thin, and the production looks like it was shot on a smartphone from 2015. I appreciate the old-school BL nostalgia, but there's not enough plot or depth to leave a lasting impression. Fine for a 20-minute distraction, but don't expect anything groundbreaking.

As a cinematography geek, I found the vertical aspect ratio jarring and the lighting extremely flat. There are some genuinely sweet shots of the two leads sharing earphones, but overall the visual quality holds it back. Still, the acting is charming enough to carry the rudimentary direction. A decent first attempt that could have used better crew.

I appreciated that this drama avoids the typical problematic tropes—no forced proximity, no harassment disguised as romance. Lin Yang openly admires Gao Yan Zhi but respects his boundaries, and the progression feels organic. It’s a refreshingly healthy depiction of a slow-burn college crush. The production quality is low, but the respectful storytelling deserves credit.
