When high school sophomores Ryo, Hikaru, and Chika stumble upon an old 8mm film in a dusty school warehouse, they uncover a hauntingly beautiful image of a girl dancing on the rooftop decades ago. Obsessed with the mystery, their search for her identity is upended when a transfer student, Minami, arrives—and she is the spitting image of the girl in the film. As the four become entangled in a delicate love square, each harbors secret, unrequited feelings: Hikaru chases Minami's ghost, Ryo silently loves Hikaru, Chika pines for Ryo, and Minami hides her own quiet affections. This isn't a story about grand confessions or whirlwind romances—it's a tender, bittersweet exploration of first love, friendship, and the ache of wanting someone who may never want you back. With dreamy cinematography and a soulful soundtrack, *My Strawberry Film* captures the restlessness of youth and the courage it takes to simply hold someone's hand. A must-watch for those who love their BL drama real, reflective, and devastatingly human.

I went in expecting a typical BL and came out emotionally wrecked in the best way. This drama understands that queer love doesn't always get a happy ending—it's about recognizing yourself in someone else's eyes. The final hand-holding scene between Ryo and Hikaru is one of the most powerful things I've ever seen in a J-drama. It's not about kisses; it's about being seen.

I absolutely adored this! Yes, it's heartbreaking because no one ends up together, but the love and care between all four friends is so genuine. Ryo and Hikaru have my whole heart—even without a kiss, their connection is palpable. The soundtrack is gorgeous too. If you're tired of cookie-cutter BL, this is a breath of fresh air.

The cinematography alone is worth the watch. Every scene is composed like a painting—the blue color grading, the way sunlight falls through windows, the isolation of characters at the edges of the frame. It's visually stunning. The story itself is slow and melancholic, but if you love atmosphere over plot, this will captivate you.

I get that it's supposed to be artistic, but calling this a BL is false advertising. The 'mystery' of the film is resolved in the most predictable way, and nothing actually happens romance-wise until the last five minutes. Characters make irrational decisions, and the pacing is glacial. I felt cheated out of my time.

The OST is fantastic—both the opening 'Flashback Memories' by Kubota Kai and the ending 'Cropping' by Quw perfectly capture that bittersweet, nostalgic feeling. The score by Yuya Mori is subtle but effective. As for the drama itself, I liked it more than most critics, but I have to admit it's more of a mood piece than a plot-driven romance. Worth it for the music alone.
