Prepare to have your heart warmed in just 20 minutes. *My Pistachio* is a tender Korean short film that captures the fluttery, nerve-wracking essence of a first crush. Muyeong, a soft-spoken university student, has been secretly in love with his senior, Hanbit, for what feels like forever. When Hanbit begins directing a one-man play titled 'My Love' for the drama club, Muyeong sees a golden opportunity: if he can land the lead role, he can finally confess his feelings through the script. But Hanbit, a perfectionist director, has already cast someone else and seems to barely acknowledge Muyeong's presence. Undeterred, Muyeong takes on the role of a humble assistant – running errands and adjusting the script in secret – hoping to prove himself. The story unfolds like a delicate pistachio: a hard, shy exterior hiding a soft, nutty sweetness inside. Through stolen glances, awkward rehearsals, and a little liquid courage from a bottle of soju, *My Pistachio* delivers a heart-fluttering, low-stakes romance that proves love, like cracking a nut, sometimes just needs a tiny breakthrough.

I watched this on a whim and it immediately became my go-to mood booster! The two leads have such cute chemistry – I was literally grinning the whole 20 minutes. It's short but doesn't feel rushed; every scene matters. More of this please!

It's sweet but I couldn't help wondering about the backstory. Why is Han Bit so harsh to Muyeong? The bullying dynamic without explanation bothered me a little. For a short film, it's fine, but I wanted more depth. The ending is cute though.

For a low-budget short film, the cinematography is lovely – soft lighting, warm tones, and a nice use of close-ups. The theater setting is well captured, and the final scene is beautifully framed. A treat for anyone who appreciates visual storytelling.

I get that it's meant to be fluffy, but the initial dynamic where the senior actively ignores and belittles the junior set off some red flags for me. The 'love confession through a play' is cute, but I wish there was more emotional accountability. Still, harmless overall.

The background music is so fitting – soft piano and guitar tracks that perfectly complement the tender mood. There's a particular melody during the soju scene that just makes my heart flutter. The soundtrack elevated the whole experience for me.
