Welcome to the world of *My Personal Weatherman*, a Japanese BL drama that masterfully turns the daily forecast into a sizzling, anxiety-laced romance. The story drops you straight into the unconventional living arrangement between Mizuki Segasaki, a charismatic and wildly popular weather forecaster known for his sunny on-screen persona, and Yoh Tanada, a struggling erotic manga artist. To outsiders, Mizuki is a perfect gentleman; behind closed doors, he is a cold, possessive tyrant. Yoh, who lost his job and has nowhere else to go, lives under a bizarre contract: he cooks, cleans, and submits to Mizuki's every whim in exchange for room and board—including a secret pact to have sex only on sunny days.

But nothing is as simple as it seems. Through Yoh's internal monologue, we quickly realize he is not a passive victim. He subtly provokes Mizuki, feeding off his jealousy and dominance, craving the very control he claims to resent. Mizuki, in turn, is a man drowning in unexpressed love—he needs Yoh's presence, his cooking, and his submission not out of cruelty, but out of a desperate fear of being abandoned. The two are locked in a codependent, silent dance: they never say "I love you," but every possessive glare and every reluctant caress screams it.

*My Personal Weatherman* is a raw, intimate exploration of a relationship built on unspoken rules and deep-seated traumas. It dares to show that love can be messy, possessive, and even toxic—yet still achingly real. With stunning cinematography that mirrors the emotional weather—from quiet, rainy melancholia to explosive, sunny passion—this series is a must-watch for viewers who crave mature, psychologically complex BL that doesn't shy away from the darker shades of desire. The question isn't whether they love each other, but whether they can break their own silence before the storm tears them apart.

I am absolutely OBSESSED with Segasaki and Yoh. Their chemistry is off the charts! Every time Mizuki grabs Yoh's chin or gives him that intense look, I literally melt. Yes, they don't talk much, but the way they communicate through touch and the weather pact is so unique and hot. The sexy scenes are perfectly shot—not too explicit but incredibly passionate. This is the kind of messy, desperate love I live for. If you're a fan of possessive leads and can handle the dark undertones, this is a masterpiece.

I wanted to like this, but the lack of communication killed it for me. Here we have two grown adults who can't have a single honest conversation. The miscommunication isn't cute or deep; it's just frustrating. Every episode felt like a repeat cycle: Yoh pouts, Mizuki gets jealous, they have sex, and nothing changes. The plot goes absolutely nowhere. The production values are nice, and the lead actors try their best, but the story is repetitive and hollow. If you need resolution or character growth, skip this.

Visually, this show is a dream. The cinematography is incredible—the use of soft natural light during intimate scenes, the way rain is filmed to feel both oppressive and romantic, and that opening sequence with the umbrella? Perfection. Every shot feels like a carefully composed photograph. Even the episodes' color grading shifts with the emotional weather. I could watch this on mute and still be captivated. The intimate scenes are beautifully choreographed with a real sense of intimacy and vulnerability. For the visual feast alone, this is a must-watch.

As someone who cares deeply about consent and healthy relationships in media, this drama was a struggle. Segasaki's behavior is textbook emotional abuse—gaslighting, controlling where Yoh goes, stalking him, and leveraging his reliance on him. Yoh's internal monologue suggests he wants this dynamic, but that doesn't excuse the lack of clear, enthusiastic consent shown on screen. The power imbalance is never resolved or even properly critiqued; instead, it's romanticized. The show treats a deeply toxic cycle as 'steamy' and 'romantic' without any critical lens. I found it irresponsible and uncomfortable to watch. The actors are talented, but the message is harmful.

The music in this series is a character of its own! The opening theme has this breezy, pop feeling that contrasts beautifully with the tense drama, while the ending theme captures the melancholy of a rainy day. The background score is subtle but incredibly effective—it swells at exactly the right moments during their intimate scenes without overpowering the dialogue. I especially loved the use of quiet, ambient sounds (rain, footsteps, breathing) to build atmosphere. If you're an OST lover like me, you'll appreciate how the music guides the emotional highs and lows. Solid soundtrack work.

Honestly, I came for the main couple but stayed for Yoh's best friend and her husband! Their relationship was the healthy, communicative dynamic I needed as a palate cleanser. The way the friend clearly sees the red flags in Yoh's situation but still supports him—and her husband's dry humor—provided such a nice contrast. I wish the show had given them more screen time. As for Segasaki and Yoh, the chemistry is undeniable, but the toxicity is exhausting. The side couple was my emotional anchor in this storm. Wish they had their own spin-off!

Having read the original manga, I have mixed feelings. The drama captures the overall vibe and the iconic rainy/sunny pact, but it misses some of the nuanced internal development from the source material. The manga gives us more insight into why Yoh feels the need to provoke Mizuki and a deeper understanding of Mizuki's backstory. The show streamlined it too much, making Mizuki seem one-dimensionally possessive and Yoh just passive. That said, the actors have great chemistry and the intimate scenes are adapted beautifully. It's a decent adaptation but not as layered as the manga. Read the manga for the full experience.
