In a world where vampires lurk in the shadows, 20-year-old Tong lives under a cloud of fear, convinced he has hemophilia. But the truth is far more extraordinary—his blood is ‘golden,’ a rare and irresistible elixir that drives vampires wild with hunger. Enter Mark, a 200-year-old vampire heir cursed with eternal loneliness, who is tasked with protecting Tong from his own kind. As Mark battles his primal urges, a forbidden romance blooms between predator and prey—tender, intense, and dangerously addictive. But when Tong discovers the truth about his blood and the sinister forces closing in, their bond is tested by betrayal, sacrifice, and a conspiracy that threatens to tear them apart. With cinematic visuals, sizzling chemistry, and a hauntingly beautiful OST, My Golden Blood is a vampire romance that sinks its teeth deep into your heart—and doesn't let go.

I'm completely obsessed with Joss and Gawin's chemistry. Every scene between Mark and Tong feels electric—the bathtub scene rewired my brain. The way Mark's eyes darken when Tong's blood is near? Perfection. Yes, the CGI is cheesy, but who cares when the romance is this hot and heartfelt? I've already rewatched three times.

The first few episodes are a slog—all setup, no bite. Tong's decision-making is baffling (who trusts a vampire that just tried to drink you?). The world-building is slapped together with duct tape, and the big twist about Thara was painfully obvious. Still, the actors give it their all, and once the romance kicks in around episode 5, it becomes watchable. But this isn't the smart vampire story I hoped for.

Visually, this series is a treat. The lighting in the vampire scenes—deep blues, harsh shadows, candlelit close-ups—creates a gothic atmosphere that rivals any high-budget fantasy. Director Ark Saroj clearly understands composition; those black-and-white dream sequences were hauntingly beautiful. The color grading alone makes it worth a watch, even if the action choreography is clunky.

I appreciate that the show tries to address power imbalances—Mark is a centuries-old vampire protecting a naive human, but Tong eventually finds his agency. However, the early dynamic has some uncomfortable moments where Mark's bloodlust borders on predatory, and the narrative doesn't fully interrogate that. On a positive note, the communication between the leads after the first few episodes is refreshingly mature. It's not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction for BL.

The OST is absolutely divine. Gawin's voice on the opening track gives me chills every single time—it captures the longing and danger of the story perfectly. The instrumental score during the tense scenes is equally impressive. I've had 'Golden Blood' on repeat for weeks. Even if the plot had flaws (it doesn't, in my opinion), the music alone would carry this series into my top BLs of the year.
