In a raw and provocative Filipino drama, a lawyer's life is upended when he is tasked with caring for Matthew, a young massacre survivor and the son of a former client. Welcomed into the family by his wife and daughter, the boy grows up alongside them, but as the years pass, hidden tensions and forbidden desires simmer beneath the surface. When the daughter confesses her feelings, the family's fragile harmony shatters, forcing everyone to confront uncomfortable truths about love, loyalty, and identity. Based on real events, *My Father, Myself* is a bold, morally complex exploration of an adoptive father-son bond that crosses boundaries, delivering an emotionally charged narrative that refuses to offer easy answers.

I have to give credit where it's due—the acting, especially from Dimples Romana and Sean de Guzman, is top-notch. But the last scene completely tanked the story for me. Still, I appreciate that they didn't go for a fairy-tale ending; sometimes life is messy like this. Just don't expect a typical BL romance.

I went in knowing this was controversial, but the power dynamic between the adoptive father and son made me incredibly uncomfortable. The film doesn't fully interrogate the consent issues—it almost romanticizes the grooming aspect. Worth watching for the conversation it sparks, but I found it ethically problematic.

Visually, this film is stunning. The lighting in the intimate scenes and the cold color palette during the family breakdowns really underscore the emotional tension. Cinematography-wise, it's a cut above most Filipino BLs. If you can look past the taboo subject, the craft is undeniable.

I know the relationship is messed up, but the chemistry between the leads is electrifying. I couldn't look away during their scenes—it's tragic and beautiful in a twisted way. The ending broke me, but that's what makes it memorable. Not for the faint of heart, but I felt every emotion.
