My Engineer is a Thai BL series that dives headfirst into the chaos of university life, friendship, and first love, but it's the four interconnected couples that make this show a delightful and often frustrating ride. At the center are Bohn, a popular engineering student, and Duen, an innocent first-year medical student. Their story begins with a classic revenge scheme: Bohn catches Duen snooping around his belongings and punishes him by demanding a rose every day for a month. What starts as a silly prank quickly blooms into something real, as Bohn's cocky exterior cracks and Duen's gentle smile disarms him. But their relationship is anything but smooth—Bohn's raging jealousy and Duen's inability to express his feelings lead to endless misunderstandings, jealous rages, and repetitive arguments that test both their patience and the viewer's.

Fortunately, the series balances this with three other couples that each bring a different flavor of romance. Ram, a quiet and dog-loving first-year, catches the attention of King, a plant-obsessed senior who is patient, perceptive, and determined to break through Ram's walls. Their slow-burn romance is the soul of the show, filled with tender looks and wordless understanding. Then there's Mek and Boss—best friends where Mek is secretly in love with the oblivious, constantly-dating-girls Boss. Their story is full of angsty longing, but also features the first kiss of the series and a surprising confession scene. Finally, Dr. Thara and Frong appear later, introducing a more whimsical, pet-lizard-having doctor and a sweet, overly polite student whose relationship is left teasingly open-ended.

Set against the backdrop of a bustling university campus, My Engineer is a show about learning to trust, communicate, and grow up. It's flawed, repetitive, and sometimes maddening, but its heart is in the right place—especially for the side couples who steal every scene. Whether you watch for the roses, the plants, or the awkward voice-dubbing, this series offers a generous slice of BL comfort food.

I started this show for the main couple but ended up staying for RamKing. Those two are the absolute soul of My Engineer. The way King patiently deciphers Ram's silent world, the venus flytrap metaphor, the first kiss that was somehow both desperate and gentle—I was a puddle on my floor. Bohn and Duen are cute but exhausting; I fast-forwarded half their scenes after episode 8. MekBoss had potential but that voice dubbing killed it for me. Give me a RamKing spin-off and I'll pay whatever they ask.

I don't care what anyone says—I loved Bohn and Duen from start to finish. Yes, Bohn is possessive and Duen is a tsundere, but their bickering is adorable and their smiles just melt me. The rose punishment turning into genuine love? Classic. I also adored Mek and Boss; their first kiss caught me so off guard. The whole series felt like a warm hug. Only complaint: Thara and Frong needed more screen time. Give me season 2 now!

I wanted to like this more, but the writing is lazy. Bohn and Duen have the same conflict every single episode: Bohn gets jealous of some guy breathing near Duen, they fight, Duen apologizes, repeat. No growth for ten episodes. The side couples are better, but Mek's dubbing is so poorly synced it took me out of every scene. And the whole 'I don't like guys, I like you' line is worn out. Save yourself the time and just watch RamKing compilations on YouTube.

As someone who watches BL critically, this show is a minefield. Bohn's behavior is textbook red flag: isolating Duen, controlling who he talks to, guilt-tripping him constantly. Duen's constant apologizing normalizes toxic dynamics. I did appreciate the episode that questioned top/bottom stereotypes, but it was too little too late. The dubbing on Mek also felt disrespectful to the actor. Only RamKing's respectful, consent-focused relationship saved this from a 1.

The OST is the unsung hero of My Engineer. 'The Person I Waited' by MOD3G x Joelong is on repeat for me—it captures that bittersweet hopefulness perfectly. The background music during RamKing's quiet moments is also gorgeous. But oh, that meme music during Ram's family scene was jarring. Great soundtrack choices overall, but the show itself is uneven. Still, I'll listen to the album any day.

The cinematography is surprisingly pleasant for a low-budget BL. I loved the soft lighting in the rose scenes and the way King's plant room was shot—warm and intimate. There are some beautiful shot compositions, especially when Duen smiles in slow motion. But the editing is messy, and the dubbing makes Mek's scenes look like a bad dub film. It's a visual mixed bag with some real gems.

I'm here for Mek and Boss, and nobody talks about them enough. Mek's silent pining, Boss's obliviousness, that confession where Mek says he just wants Boss to know he's not worthless—I cried. The dubbing is terrible, yes, but the actors' chemistry transcends it. Their kiss was the best in the series. I'm devastated Ryan won't be back for S2. Hope they do justice to this couple. RamKing are also great, but MekBoss stole my heart.

I'm a gay man in my late 20s and I found this show surprisingly relatable. Yes, Bohn is annoying, but young love IS messy like that. I appreciated that Duen wasn't a total pushover—he holds his ground. RamKing's non-verbal understanding was beautifully acted. The dubbing is a disaster, but the show's heart saves it. Not a masterpiece, but a solid comfort watch with some genuinely touching moments. I'll be back for season 2 if it ever comes.
