My Chinito Prince is a compact Filipino BL miniseries that continues the love story of Niko and Prince, first introduced in the anthology Stranger's Kiss. Set in Manila, it follows Niko, a hardworking college student, as he navigates a budding romance with Prince, a charming and affectionate young man of Chinese-Filipino heritage (hence 'Chinito'). Over five tender episodes, the pair move from a chance encounter to a committed relationship, facing hurdles from family expectations, cultural differences, and societal pressures. The series strips away melodrama to focus on the sweet, everyday moments of young love: stolen glances, playful banter, and the vulnerability of opening up. With its short runtime and earnest performances, the show delivers a cozy, feel-good experience that celebrates communication and authenticity. While not groundbreaking, it offers a warm hug for viewers seeking simple yet genuine BL storytelling—proof that sometimes the most heartfelt romances need no grand gestures.

I absolutely adore Niko and Prince! Their chemistry is so natural and sweet. It's simple, but sometimes a soft, fluffy story is all you need. I smiled the whole way through.

The story feels underdeveloped even for a miniseries. Pacing is rushed, conflicts are resolved way too easily, and the dialogue can be clunky. It's cute but not memorable.

I was impressed by the warm color grading and intimate framing of the romantic scenes. The Manila city backdrop adds a nice slice-of-life touch. Budget limitations show, but the director has an eye for emotion.

While the leads are cute, the series glosses over real tensions like family acceptance and cultural identity. The lack of deeper discussion on coming out or the Chinese-Filipino experience feels like a missed opportunity.

The background music is surprisingly charming—there's a gentle acoustic theme that perfectly matches the romantic mood. I wish the OST was available on streaming platforms.
