What happens when your first love is also your stepbrother? *My Bromance* is a heart-wrenching Thai BL that asks exactly that. Golf and Bank are teenage stepbrothers whose secret romance is discovered by their homophobic father, leading to a brutal separation that sends Golf to the U.S. and leaves Bank devastated in Bangkok. Eight years later, fate reunites them—but the boys are no longer who they were. Golf has become a hardened, reckless diver drifting through life, while Bank has rebuilt himself into a confident, successful man engaged to another. As they navigate the messy collision of past passion and present obligations, the series dives deep into forbidden love, family loyalty, and the painful question: can you ever truly go home again? With a dual timeline that jumps between high school sweetness and adult heartache, this is a raw, emotional rollercoaster that refuses to sugarcoat the cost of loving someone your family won't accept.

Okay, I get the criticisms, but honestly? Golf and Bank's story had me crying into my pillow. The way they look at each other in the present timeline? My heart. Yes, there's too much family drama, but when they finally kiss as adults, it's totally worth every tear. I'm a sucker for forbidden love and this delivered.

The dual timeline was confusing—I kept losing track of which year we were in because the only change was Golf's hairstyle. And the sheer number of sick characters (Alzheimer's, cancer, heart failure) felt like a lazy way to generate drama. The ending also just... stops. No resolution for half the characters. Could have been a tight 8-episode show instead of a messy 12.

I really wanted to love this, but the stepbrother angle is problematic. They're not blood-related, but the power dynamics and the way the show romanticizes the 'forbidden' without ever critically examining the coercion in their early relationship bothered me. Also, Golf's behavior—stripping Bank in class, making him sleep outside—is coded as 'bad boy' but it's just toxic. Not a great look for gay representation.

As someone who watched the original movie first, I appreciate that the series gave us a happy ending (thank goodness). But the expanded runtime introduced so many side characters and subplots that the core romance felt diluted. The movie's simplicity was its strength. Here, I'm supposed to care about K-pop obsessed girls and a cousin's love life? Still, Cooper and Guide have decent chemistry, and Bank's character is way better written than in the film.

I know the pacing is messy, but the music in this series is SO underrated. That piano motif that plays during all the sad flashbacks? Hauntingly beautiful. And the new songs mixed with the original film's OST really enhanced the emotional weight. I also love that they used 'Gee' by Girls' Generation for a dance scene—it's so random and joyful. A comfort drama for me, warts and all.
