What if the tragic ending you cried over was all a lie? *My Bromance: Reunion* pulls the rug out from under viewers of the original film, revealing that Golf — the boy Bank thought died from a brain disease — is very much alive. In this 40-minute short film, Golf reunites with his high school friends at a poolside getaway, but Bank is conspicuously absent. As the group laughs, swims, and exchanges awkward glances, the devastating truth surfaces: Golf, his parents, and their closest friends have all conspired to fake his death. Their reasoning? To force Bank to move on after Golf’s near-fatal accident, believing the lie would spare him more pain. But Golf can’t forget Bank, and each birthday gift he secretly sends only deepens the guilt. Shot with the raw, intimate energy of a home video, this short serves as a crucial bridge between the original *My Bromance* and its sequel *5 Years Later*, transforming a heart-wrenching romance into a tangled web of secrets, sacrifice, and second chances.

I honestly sobbed the entire time. Knowing Golf is alive but forced to stay away from Bank breaks my heart in the best way. The birthday gifts scene killed me. I need them together in the sequel immediately!

The twist is clever, but the execution is sloppy. Why would friends and parents agree to such an elaborate lie? Nobody thought about the consequences? It feels like a soap opera contrivance. Still, it sets up the sequel decently.

I’m disturbed by how the show romanticizes a massive deception orchestrated by loved ones. Bank’s autonomy is completely stripped away. Even if Golf’s intentions were 'good', this is a toxic foundation for a romance. Hard to root for.

Despite its low budget, the short uses natural lighting and handheld cameras to create an intimate, almost documentary-like feel. The pool scenes beautifully contrast the sunny setting with the characters’ heavy guilt. Visually striking for a short film.
