My Beautiful Man: Eternal picks up where Season 2 left off, following Hira and Kiyoi as they navigate life after university. Now living together, they face the practical hurdle of finding a new home while pursuing their careers—Hira as a budding photographer and Kiyoi as a rising actor. But beneath the domestic bliss, old insecurities resurface: Hira struggles to capture Kiyoi’s beauty through his lens the way his mentor does, and Kiyoi wrestles with the pressures of fame and the shadow of a career scandal. When a fan’s obsession turns dangerous, the couple must confront what it truly means to love and protect each other. Beautifully shot and emotionally layered, this film deepens the duo’s bond while honoring the unique, devotion-heavy dynamic that fans adore. It’s a poignant, romantic conclusion that celebrates growth, vulnerability, and the quiet triumph of imperfect love.

I am absolutely undone by this movie. Hira and Kiyoi's love has never felt more real—every glance, every touch, every whispered word carries so much weight. The bathtub scene and the final run through the school had me crying happy tears. This is how you end a love story.

I wanted to love it more, but the kidnapping subplot felt rushed and underdeveloped. The villain lacked depth, and the resolution came too easily. Still, the core relationship work is solid, and the acting keeps you invested even when the script stumbles.

Having read the novels and listened to the drama CDs, I felt the movie compressed too much. Kiyoi's inner turmoil and Anna's backstory were cut, making some emotional beats fall flat. But the actors are phenomenal, and the visual callbacks to Season 1 gave me chills.

This is the most gorgeous Japanese BL film I've ever seen. The lighting, the color palette—especially the use of mesh fabric and soft focus during intimate scenes—creates a dreamlike atmosphere that perfectly mirrors Hira's perspective. Each shot is a photograph waiting to be taken.

I appreciate how this film addresses the fine line between devotion and obsession through Shitara and Hira. The narrative clearly condemns abusive fan behavior while still honoring Hira's deep, worshipful love as something healthy because it respects Kiyoi's autonomy. A thoughtful step forward for BL storytelling.
