Manu (Roman Perez Jr.) is a successful, openly gay man living a comfortable life in the Philippines—until a surprise phone call from his past shatters everything. Seven years ago, a fleeting relationship with his best friend Monique ended abruptly when she moved abroad, leaving Manu heartbroken. Now, she has passed away, and Manu discovers he has a son: the bright, mischievous seven-year-old Dylan, who has been raised by Monique’s sister. Forced to step into unexpected fatherhood, Manu must navigate diapers, school plays, and his own family’s traditional expectations—all while falling deeper in love with his supportive boyfriend, Ben. *My 2 Mommies* is a warm, hilarious, and heartfelt comedy about what it means to build a family on your own terms. With a blend of quirky humor, genuine emotion, and a standout performance from its pint-sized star, this 2018 Filipino gem challenges stereotypes and celebrates the messy, beautiful reality of modern love and parenthood.

I absolutely adored the chemistry between Manu and Ben! Their cute domestic moments made me smile so wide. And little Dylan is the cutest kid ever—the way he calls them both 'Mommy' just melted my heart. A perfect feel-good movie for when you need a hug.

It’s a nice enough family movie, but let’s be honest—the storyline is wafer-thin. Manu’s reaction to suddenly having a son feels rushed, and some jokes fall flat. The child actor is fantastic, but the writing needed more depth to justify the 100-minute runtime. A decent one-time watch.

I wasn’t expecting such warm, sun-drenched cinematography from a low-budget Filipino film. The color palette of yellows and greens really sells the whole 'family paradise' vibe. The beach scenes and home interiors are beautifully lit. Even the simple editing during the comedy beats lands perfectly.

What I appreciate most is how the film normalizes a gay man being a loving, capable parent without making it a trauma narrative. Manu’s boyfriend Ben is fully supportive, and the ex’s family eventually comes around. It’s a positive depiction of consent and co-parenting that challenges traditional gender roles. Could have gone deeper into class issues, but still a win for representation.

The music isn’t groundbreaking, but it fits the mood perfectly—a gentle acoustic guitar score during emotional beats and a bouncy pop track during the family montages. There’s one karaoke scene that had me laughing out loud. Not the most memorable OST, but it does its job without overpowering the dialogue.
