When White, the top graphic designer at his university, lands a coveted internship, he expects to shine. But a harsh reprimand for a critical mistake plunges him into a spiral of stress and self-doubt. That night, he falls asleep only to wake up seeing the world in grayscale—literally. Monochrome is a poignant Thai short film that uses this striking visual metaphor to explore burnout, identity, and the quiet resilience of love. As White struggles to navigate a colorless reality, his supportive coworker and a blind friend offer unexpected perspectives on perception and connection. This beautifully shot romance-drama delivers an intimate, emotionally resonant journey about finding color not in your eyes, but in your heart.

I wasn't expecting to cry over a 20-minute short film, but here we are. The chemistry between Earth and Nicchi is so soft and real—that one scene where they almost touch hands had me holding my breath. It's not steamy, but the emotional payoff is gorgeous. My heart feels full.

The grayscale palette is a bold choice, and they absolutely nailed it. Every shot is composed like a still photograph—shadow and texture become characters. When color finally returns, it's not just a gimmick; it's a cathartic release. Visually, this is one of the most artful Thai BLs I've seen.

Great concept, but the execution felt rushed. The color blindness metaphor is powerful, but the cause-and-effect logic is shaky—why does stress cause literal monochrome vision? Also, the side characters (especially the blind friend) are underutilized. It’s a nice mood piece, but the plot needed more substance to earn the emotional beats.

I appreciate that this short film treats mental health seriously. White's burnout is shown without glamorization, and his partner respects his boundaries beautifully—no forceful 'cure' through romance. The blind supporting character also avoids being a token; she offers perspective without speaking for disability. More BLs should take this thoughtful approach.

The piano score is hauntingly beautiful and perfectly mirrors White's emotional journey. There's a recurring theme that swells just when the grayscale starts to feel suffocating—I actually searched for the OST after watching. Music elevates this from a good short film to an unforgettable one.
