After burning out from a soul-crushing corporate job in Tokyo, 29-year-old Minato Akira retreats to his sleepy hometown to take over his late grandfather's coin laundromat. What he thinks will be a quiet, simple life quickly turns anything but when Katsuki Shintaro, a bold and relentlessly charming high school student, walks into his shop—and his heart. Shin is unapologetically forward, flirting with Akira at every turn and declaring his intent to make the older man his boyfriend. Akira, flustered and increasingly drawn to Shin despite himself, is caught between a genuine connection and the glaring red flags: Shin is 17, nearly 18, and a decade younger. But as Shin's persistence wears down Akira's defenses, a tender, slow-burn romance begins to unfold against the backdrop of the warm, nostalgic laundromat. With its gentle comedy, introspective storytelling, and a cast of quirky supporting characters—including a sweet but complicated former teacher and a lovelorn friend—*Minato's Laundromat* explores what it means to find love when you least expect it, and the courage it takes to let yourself be loved in return. This is a heartwarming journey of second chances and the quiet beauty of a life rebuilt.

I am absolutely in love with this drama! Shin's relentless pursuit of Akira is the most adorable thing I've ever watched. Every time he teased Akira and made him blush, I was on cloud nine. The chemistry between the leads is off the charts—they have such sweet, natural moments. The ending had me crying happy tears. If you want a feel-good, heartwarming romance, this is it!

I wanted to love this but the pacing killed it for me. The same conflict—Akira running away, Shin chasing—repeats over and over with little progress. The side plot with the teacher drags on forever and could have been resolved in two episodes. Akira's character lacks growth; he's just passive the whole time. The ending is cute but feels rushed after all that spinning in circles. Not terrible, but definitely not the masterpiece some claim.

Visually, this show is a treat. The laundromat is bathed in warm, golden light that makes every scene feel like a cozy memory. The color grading—soft pastels mixed with pops of primary colors—is stunning. I loved how they used the spinning washing machines as a metaphor for Akira's emotional turmoil. The wardrobe choices (especially those food-print shirts) are perfect. It's not the most groundbreaking plot, but the cinematography alone makes it worth watching.

I have mixed feelings. The drama tries to handle the age gap responsibly by having Akira resist, but Shin's behavior is still problematic. He repeatedly ignores Akira's verbal 'no's', physically invades his space, and takes a non-consensual photo. It's framed as cute flirting, but it's actually boundary-crossing. I appreciate that the show acknowledges the ethical dilemma, but it doesn't fully critique Shin's actions. For a beginner BL, I'd recommend *Cherry Magic* or *Old Fashion Cupcake* instead.

Honestly, I watched this mostly for Asuka and Hiiragi, the side couple. They have so much potential—angsty, grumpy/sunshine dynamic—but they get barely any screen time until the last couple episodes. I wish the show had given them a full arc instead of rushing their resolution. The main couple is cute but the endless repetition wore me out. Still, for those five minutes of side couple content, I'd watch a whole spin-off.

The music in this show is what really got me. The opening theme is so upbeat and catchy that I never skipped it. The background piano pieces during emotional scenes perfectly capture the bittersweet, nostalgic mood. And the way the ending credits change in the final episode—that gave me chills. The soundtrack is definitely one of the strongest elements of this drama. I even added a few songs to my daily playlist.

As someone who read the manga first, I think the drama does a decent job but misses some of the subtle character development. In the manga, Akira's internal monologue is richer, showing his gradual acceptance. The actor does a great job with what he's given, but the script waters down his complexity. Shin is actually pretty faithful, though—the cocky, persistent kid is spot-on. The side couple got more development in the manga too. Still, it's a nice adaptation for fans.

I came here for some edge because the synopsis sounded interesting, but this is just two people running in circles emotionally. No fights, no stakes—just laundry and blushing. If you're looking for high drama or action, skip this. The only 'intense' moment is when Shin almost gets hit by a car, but it's resolved in a minute. It's a slow, gentle romance, which is fine for what it is, but I need more excitement. I'll stick to crime dramas.
