In the evocative Filipino BL web series *Make a Wish*, we meet Isko, a young man still tethered to the ghosts of his past. Years after a painful breakup, he finds himself trapped in a cycle of regret and longing, especially whenever fate forces a crossing of paths with his ex-boyfriend, Tonyo. Each encounter feels like a haunting replay of yesterday's heartbreak, blurring the lines between memory and reality. But when a mysterious supernatural twist offers Isko a chance to change the past, he must decide whether revisiting old wounds is worth the risk. Blending tender romance with a touch of the otherworldly, this six-episode miniseries explores second chances, the weight of unresolved feelings, and the courage it takes to truly let go. With its atmospheric storytelling and emotionally charged performances from leads Mayumi Layne Villar and Arjay Ramos, *Make a Wish* is a poignant and quietly magical journey for anyone who has ever wondered 'what if?'

I absolutely melted watching Isko and Tonyo reconnect. The chemistry is so raw and real, especially when the supernatural element lets them revisit their past. It’s bittersweet but so hopeful—I cried happy tears at the ending. If you love second-chance romances with a touch of magic, this one is for you.

I wanted to love this but the pacing drags even for a mini-series. The supernatural rules are never clearly explained, and some episodes feel like they’re just circling the same emotional beats. The leads are decent but the writing needed tighter editing to earn that tearjerker payoff.

The visual storytelling surprised me—the way the camera lingers on fading photographs and rain-streaked windows really sells the melancholy vibe. It’s not high budget, but the color grading shifts effectively between flashback warmth and present-day cool tones. A feast for the eyes if you appreciate mood over polish.

I appreciate that the show tackles unresolved grief and the pressure to 'move on' in a queer context. However, I wish it had addressed the power dynamics in the past relationship more directly—there’s a moment where emotional manipulation is romanticized without critique. Still, it’s a thoughtful attempt at showing healing, not just escapism.

The music in *Make a Wish* is the hidden star. That acoustic guitar theme that plays during the memory sequences? Pure heartache. The original song at the end credits fits the tone perfectly. I’ve listened to it on repeat since finishing the series—it really elevates the emotional weight.
