In the gritty underbelly of Bangkok’s criminal underworld, Kanin, the hot-tempered heir to a powerful mafia family, is forced into an ultimatum by his iron-fisted father: pass a rigorous academic exam or lose his inheritance. Enter Phum, a bespectacled, soft-spoken bookworm who spends his days buried in dusty library stacks. Tasked with tutoring the reluctant prince of crime, Phum is horrified by Kanin's reckless arrogance, while Kanin scoffs at the nerd who dares to challenge him. But as late-night study sessions turn into heated arguments and stolen glances, the line between battlefield and classroom blurs. What begins as a clash of worlds—brutal power versus quiet intellect—slowly unravels into a tender, forbidden romance that forces both men to question their loyalties. With the mafia closing in and family secrets surfacing, Kanin and Phum must decide if their growing bond is worth risking everything. Mafia Prince & Bookworm delivers a heart-pounding enemies-to-lovers journey filled with sizzling tension, emotional vulnerability, and the timeless message that love can bloom even in the darkest corners.

I am utterly obsessed! Kanin and Phum have the most breathtaking chemistry I've seen in a BL this year. Their enemies-to-lovers journey is so well-paced—every glare, every accidental touch, every tear... I felt everything. The library study scene in episode 6 made me scream. Pure perfection!

As someone who geeks out over visuals, this show is a treat. The contrast between the cold, steel-and-leather mafia world and the warm, golden-hued library is brilliantly shot. The director uses light and shadow to mirror the characters' internal conflicts. Not every BL pays this much attention to framing.

Enjoyable enough, but the plot has holes big enough to drive a truck through. Why does a mafia heir need intensive tutoring for a single exam? And the side characters are cardboard cutouts. The leads salvage it with their charisma, but if you're here for a tight mob narrative, look elsewhere.

I appreciate that the show addresses the power imbalance between the mafia prince and his tutor. There's a pivotal scene where Phum openly calls out Kanin's entitlement, and that conversation about boundaries felt refreshingly honest. Still, some moments skirt too close to romanticizing coercion for my taste. Worth a watch with a critical eye.
