Takeshi runs a beloved Italian restaurant in a quaint port town, his life a quiet routine of perfecting pasta and pouring wine. Seven years ago, his lover Kazuyoshi left for Italy to train as a chef, and Takeshi has been nursing a lonely heart ever since. But when his sister announces she’s pregnant – and the father is Kazuyoshi’s younger brother – the past comes crashing back. As Kazuyoshi finally returns, old flames and raw emotions simmer beneath the surface, forcing both men to confront the choices that drove them apart. Set against a backdrop of simmering pots and sizzling pans, *Macho Caponata* serves up a sensual, mature story of second chances, tangled family ties, and the hunger that only love (and really good eggplant) can satisfy. This is not your typical BL; it’s a bold, erotic drama that doesn’t shy away from the messy, physical reality of desire.

I’m a sucker for food and romance, and this delivered. The cooking scenes are so sensual – you can almost taste the caponata. The chemistry between the leads is raw and real, even if the story gets a little tangled. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you want a steamy, grown-up BL, this is it.

I get that it’s a Pink Film, but the plot feels like an afterthought. The whole sister-pregnant-with-ex’s-brother thing is weirdly introduced and never fully explored. I was bored waiting for the next sex scene. If you’re here for story, look elsewhere. The acting is okay, but not enough to save it.

Visually, this film is a treat. The lighting in the restaurant is warm and inviting, and the camera lingers lovingly on both the food and the actors’ bodies. Some scenes are beautifully composed – almost like a food porn and erotic film hybrid. The plot is thin, but the aesthetics kept me engaged.

I appreciate that the film aims for mature content, but the power dynamics and lack of clear consent conversations made me uncomfortable. The emotional manipulation between the leads is glossed over in favor of steamy scenes. For a film that could have explored genuine reconciliation, it felt exploitative. Not my cup of tea.
