Love Syndrome: The Beginning is a raw and unsettling Thai film that serves as a dark prequel to the events of Love Syndrome III, diving headfirst into the toxic origins of its central couples. When Itt orchestrates a devastating plan that leads to the sexual assault of Day's younger brother, Night, Day responds with brutal, all-consuming revenge. He traps Itt, subjecting him to psychological and physical torment, yet an obsessive, twisted bond begins to form between captor and captive. Simultaneously, Gear and Night attempt to rebuild their relationship after the betrayal, but their path is fraught with pain and manipulation. The film explores themes of trauma, vengeance, and the fragile line between hate and a deeply unhealthy love, all while leaving viewers on a cliffhanger that screams for a continuation. With intense performances and a focus on the darkest corners of human connection, it is a challenging but compelling watch for those who dare.

I went in with low expectations but this was still a mess. The synopsis promises a story about Day and Itt, but we barely get any development—just a series of shock scenes with no emotional build-up. The cliffhanger ending is insulting when there's no guarantee of a sequel. This should have been a proper series, not a rushed 90-minute cut-and-paste.

As someone who loves the novels, I was desperate to see Neil and Nick's story brought to life, but Nick wasn't even in the film! The movie pulls bits from the books but skips all the meaningful character moments. Day and Itt have maybe 30% screen time—the rest is a confusing montage of jet skis and filler. A huge letdown for a purist like me.

I'm genuinely disturbed by how this film romanticizes abuse. Day's actions are framed with soft lighting and romantic music, as if we're supposed to root for a captor who rapes and beats his victim. There's zero critique of the power dynamics—just trauma porn dressed up as love. As someone who cares about consent in BL, this felt irresponsible and harmful.

I'm here for Gear and Night, and honestly their scenes had real tension and chemistry—the only bright spot in this dark mess. But even their redemption arc felt rushed; I needed more explanation for Night's sudden forgiveness. Still, I'd watch a whole series just about them if the production quality stayed this good. Day and Itt? Can't root for that at all.

I know this is controversial, but I loved the raw, twisted passion between Day and Itt. The actors sold every moment of fear, obsession, and that strange pull between them. It's not a healthy romance, but it's captivating and emotionally intense. The cliffhanger killed me—I need more of their sick love story. Give me the sequel now!
