With a father who's a singer, a mother who's a movie star, and an older brother Shougo who's the lead vocalist for the super-popular band "The Crusherz," Sena Izumi—an otaku college student—is the only dull one born…

All Sena Izumi wants is to be a manga artist, but he's stuck in the shadow of his mega-famous family—a pop star dad, a movie star mom, and his brooding older brother who fronts the hottest band in Japan. When a TV commercial requires him to dress in a bridal costume and kiss the nation's biggest heartthrob, Ryoma Ichijou, his quiet college life explodes. Ryoma becomes instantly obsessed, convinced that Izumi is the reincarnation of the girl who gave him a marble as a child—and he's determined to win her back. The ensuing whirlwind of over-the-top confessions, slippery couch chases, and chaotic misunderstandings is pure manga mayhem. Underneath the silliness, however, lies a tender story about learning to accept love when you least expect it. Capturing the spirit of the original anime with delightfully exaggerated performances, this film is a sugary, lighthearted romp for anyone who loves fluff, laughter, and a dash of awkward romance.

I read the manga years ago and honestly? This movie is exactly what I wanted. The acting is purposely over-the-top to match the source material—it's not supposed to be realistic. Ryoma's couch chase had me wheezing. If you go in expecting a serious drama, you'll hate it, but if you want nostalgic, silly BL fluff, this is pure gold.

I can't get past the non-consensual elements. Ryoma forces himself on Izumi repeatedly—kissing him without permission, pulling off his shirt—and it's all played for laughs. That's not romantic, it's harassment. The manga's problematic tropes were faithfully adapted, and that's a shame because the core story had potential. Uncomfortable watch for me.

The camerawork genuinely gave me a headache. Everything is shaky and handheld, even static shots. The lighting is flat and the sets look cheap. I can forgive low budget if the directing is sharp, but here it's distractingly amateur. The only saving grace is that the male leads have decent chemistry in a few scenes, but visually this is a mess.

I totally get why people hate this, but I'm a sucker for silly romance. Izumi's panicked reactions and Ryoma's desperate puppy energy were adorable together. Yes, it's cringy, yes the acting is extra, but it made me giggle out loud multiple times. The ending with them coming out to the press was actually sweet. Not a masterpiece, but a fun 80-minute escape.

The plot feels like a highlight reel—important scenes fly by with zero emotional buildup. I never understood why Ryoma fell so hard, or why Izumi eventually reciprocated. The runtime is too short to develop any real connection between the leads. As a comedy it works in bursts, but as a romance it's hollow. Average at best.
