Seo I Jun is a formidable team leader at So What Media, known for his sharp professionalism and a heart guarded by past wounds. When the cheerful and persistent Jeong Ha Ram joins his team as a new hire, I Jun’s strictly ordered world begins to unravel. Ha Ram is instantly smitten and refuses to let I Jun’s standoffish demeanor deter him, launching an earnest, often comical campaign to break through the older man’s emotional walls. Their dynamic takes an unexpected turn when they are assigned to work on a 'Date Mate' content project together, forcing them to explore the very concept of romance I Jun is so skeptical of. As Ha Ram’s relentless warmth chips away at I Jun’s fears, the series blossoms into a tender, heartfelt exploration of learning to trust and love again. With its charming leads, playful banter, and a message about the courage it takes to open your heart, 'Love Mate' is a sweet and soulful office romance that proves sometimes the most persistent sunshine can melt the iciest exterior.

I absolutely melted watching this! The chemistry between Ha Ram and I Jun is off the charts—every look and touch felt so real. I loved how Ha Ram never gave up on him, and the photo booth scene? Pure gold. Yes, some might call it pushy, but for me it was just the sweetest pursuit. This is my comfort BL now!

I wanted to love this more, but the pacing killed it for me. The first three episodes are just non-stop chasing with barely any character development, then all the emotional heavy lifting gets crammed into the last two episodes. I Jun’s turnaround felt unearned. The leads are cute, but the story needed another four episodes to breathe.

From a consent perspective, this was hard to watch. Ha Ram’s persistent boundary-pushing—following I Jun, ignoring his refusals, and invading his personal space—is framed as romantic, but it’s classic harassment. Even coworkers and the boss enable it. The sweet ending doesn’t erase the uncomfortable undertones. I appreciate the acting, but the dynamic is toxic.

Visually, this is a treat. The soft color grading, the beautiful poolside shots, and the way the camera captures the leads’ micro-expressions really elevate the romance. There’s a scene where the lighting perfectly mirrors I Jun’s emotional thawing—from cold blues to warm golds. It’s not groundbreaking cinematography, but it’s artfully done and supports the mood beautifully.

The soundtrack is pleasantly understated but effective. The instrumental pieces—especially that haunting piano melody during the more vulnerable moments—really stick with you. The main OST is catchy without being overbearing. I wish they had released a full album; the background music during the date scenes added so much warmth. Not the best BL OST ever, but solid.
