When a sudden downpour leaves best friends Rei and Kai stranded, they’re rescued by two enigmatic strangers—Arashi, a stoic auto mechanic with a hidden heart, and Fuma, a smooth-talking architect with a playful edge. What begins as a chance encounter quickly spirals into a whirlwind of passion, trauma, and healing. As Rei’s sunny disposition collides with Arashi’s guarded intensity, and Kai’s bruised past meets Fuma’s relentless pursuit, both couples must navigate consent, trust, and the ghosts of their histories. Set against the backdrop of Japan’s underground motorsport scene, this compact eight-episode adaptation condenses the beloved Thai novel into a sleek, emotionally charged drama. With its focus on two distinct love stories—one fiery and sweet, the other tender and scarred—the series balances steamy encounters with raw vulnerability. While purists may miss the original’s depth, newcomers will find a fast-paced, stylish romance that doesn’t shy away from difficult conversations about boundaries and recovery.

As someone who tracks every JBL, I wanted to like this more. The fast pacing works for the first couple, but the second couple's trauma dump felt exploitative and rushed. The hair-drying scene was cute, and the NSFW in episode 4 had moments, but overall the chemistry just wasn't there for me. Fuma's suits were a crime against fashion too.

I actually preferred this version to the Thai one. The cuts were smart—no filler, just emotional beats. The resequencing of the final conflicts into one episode made the climax hit harder. And the way they handled Kai's trauma with actual sensitivity instead of melodrama? Chef's kiss. Both couples worked for me, especially Fuma and Kai’s quieter, more mature dynamic.

This is what happens when you compress a 14-hour story into 3.5 hours. The plot is a skeleton with no flesh—characters have no room to breathe, romance feels mandated, and the racing backdrop is laughably underused. The acting doesn't help; Rei's baby talk made me cringe, and the 'chemistry' is as dry as week-old toast. Hard pass if you value coherent storytelling.

I'm rating this mostly for the sound design and music. The car scene with Arashi and Rei had a sensual, slow-burn track that completely changed the tone from the Thai version's aggressive score. The rain ambience throughout is gorgeously mixed. Too bad the acting couldn't match the audio quality. If you're an audiophile who can ignore stiff performances, this is a treat.

I appreciate that they toned down some of the coercive elements from the original, but it's still riddled with dubious consent. Arashi's 'pushiness' in the early episodes is romanticized harassment, and the flashback structure makes it feel like trauma is just a plot device. For a show that wants to tackle recovery, it spends too little time on actual healing and too much on 'the mouth says no but the body says yes' tropes. Disappointing.
