Set against the eerie backdrop of the Chinese Ghost Festival, *Love Ever After* is a poignant short film that explores queer awakening through a supernatural lens. When introverted writer Yu Nan finds himself entangled with the mysterious Dong Xian, their connection takes a surreal turn as a magical mask allows Dong Xian to briefly inhabit the body of his friend Chao Ning. This unconventional possession becomes the catalyst for a raw, heartfelt confession of same-sex love, forcing Yu Nan to confront his own repressed desires. Inspired by a true story, the film delicately balances fantasy with emotional realism, capturing the anxiety and liberation of coming out. With stunning cinematography and a haunting atmosphere, this 20-minute gem delivers a powerful message about self-acceptance and the courage to love openly, even when the world feels like a ghost of itself.

I absolutely loved the emotional journey of self-acceptance! The Ghost Festival setting added such a unique romantic tension. I just wish it was longer – I wanted more of their connection. The mask scene gave me chills!

Interesting premise, but the storytelling felt incredibly rushed and choppy. The sister character seemed unnecessary and took away from the main plot. The concept of controlling someone's body through a mask wasn't explained well. It could have been a great feature film.

Visually stunning for a short film! The color grading during the night scenes was gorgeous, and the mask design was hauntingly beautiful. The cinematography captured the eerie yet romantic atmosphere perfectly. More directors should take note.

I appreciate the film's focus on queer awakening and the bravery to confront one's identity. However, the body control via mask raises consent questions that weren't fully addressed. Still, it's a meaningful story about facing your truth, inspired by real experiences.

The background score really elevated the emotional beats, especially during the confession scene. I wish there was an official soundtrack release! The music blended traditional Chinese elements with modern tones perfectly.
