Love Class is a charmingly awkward 2022 Korean BL that follows Cha Ji Woo, a soft-spoken mass communication student nursing a secret crush on his classmate Bae Yu Na. When their university's 'Love Class' assignment forces heterosexual pairings, Yu Na and her friend pair up to avoid men (Yu Na is being stalked, the other has a crush on the professor), leaving Ji Woo paired with the tall, brooding senior Kang Ro-A. What begins as an awkward 'fake date' for a grade slowly blossoms into something real, as Ro-A's quiet protectiveness and heartfelt attention make Ji Woo question everything he thought he knew about love. Amid side plots of stalking, gossip, and a teacher-student subplot, this short but sweet series delivers a heartfelt exploration of self-discovery, the messiness of attraction, and the courage it takes to follow your heart—even when it leads in an unexpected direction.

I am absolutely in love with Ji Woo and Ro-A! The height difference, the way Ro-A looks at him, that hug—everything made me kick my feet. Yes, the plot has holes, but I don't care. This is pure comfort BL done right.

The stalker subplot is resolved off-screen, the professor-student romance is creepy and unnecessary, and the main couple's development is rushed. Han Hyun Jun carries the show on his back, but the writing just isn't there. Disappointing for a Korean BL.

The cinematography has a raw, student-film charm that actually fits the awkward tone. Some shots are genuinely beautiful—the opera house date scene is stunning. Not polished like Semantic Error, but it has its own visual personality.

I appreciate that the show touches on stalking and homophobic gossip, but it only scratches the surface. The teacher-student dynamic is a red flag, and Ro-A's rejection speech about 'saving Ji Woo from suffering' is internalized biphobia dressed up as care. Still, the central romance is sweet enough.

I finished this in one sitting and honestly? I had a blast. It's not perfect—the stalker plot is a mess—but Han Hyun Jun is an incredible actor and the chemistry with Kim Tae Hwan kept me smiling. That final hug is everything. Recommended for a quick mood boost.
