Love by Chance Season 2: A Chance to Love returns to the world of university romance, but with a twist that has divided fans. This season doubles down on the beloved TinCan pairing, yet chooses to reboot their origin story entirely. We meet Tin (Supachok Kutapand), the wealthy, emotionally guarded heir, and Can (Niink Karnpicha Sinlertpattana), the loud, food-loving, naive engineering student, as if for the first time—but now in a timeline where Pete has already left for Germany and Ae is drowning in heartbreak. The first half of the series re-tells their enemies-to-lovers journey from season one, adding fresh scenes but also confusion for anyone expecting a direct continuation. As the story progresses beyond where season one left off, we finally see Tin and Can navigate a real relationship, balancing Tin's family drama—a bitter rivalry with his older brother Tul—and Can's unwavering loyalty. Side couples include the controversial Kla and Techno, grappling with the aftermath of non-consensual acts, as well as Tul and his secretary Gon-hin, who bring a more mature, angsty dynamic. While the series tries to offer closure for all characters, including a hopeful ending for Ae and the absent Pete, its disjointed structure and over-reliance on recap episodes make it a frustrating watch for some. At its emotional core, however, the season is about finding love when you least expect it—and holding on even when time and circumstance seem to conspire against you.

I waited two years for this and I got exactly what I wanted! TinCan's story is everything to me. Sure, the reboot was weird at first, but once I got past it, I loved seeing them fall in love all over again—this time with more laughs and real communication. Mean and Plan are so cute together, and I don't care what anyone says about the kisses; their emotional chemistry is off the charts. The scene where Can stands up to Tul? Iconic. Ignore the haters; this season gave us happiness.

Objectively, this is a mess. Six recap episodes? That's 46% of the season! The timeline doesn't make sense unless you've read the novel, and even then, it's jarring. Ae's constant crying becomes a parody of itself, and the side couples are either underdeveloped (TulHin) or problematic (KlaNo). The product placement is laughable. I wanted to like it because MeanPlan have charm, but the writing, pacing, and direction feel like a first draft. A disappointing sequel that squandered its potential.

I'm one of the few who actually liked the KlaTechno development here. Yes, the assault in S1 was horrible, but this season didn't brush it under the rug—Techno explicitly tells Kla he needs space, and we see a slow, realistic rebuilding of trust. Mark and Gun acted their hearts out. But the rest? TinCan's story was too repetitive, and I fast-forwarded Ae's scenes. If the series focused more on KlaNo and TulHin, it would have been stronger. Still, I appreciate the effort at moral complexity.

Having read the novel 'Love by Chance' and its sequel, I can say this adaptation is a letdown. The reboot erases the beautiful parallel storytelling of AePete and TinCan that made the original so rich. Tul's character is made softer than in the book, and Gonhin's backstory is rushed. The only highlight is Perth's portrayal of Ae's depression—it's heartbreaking and true to the source. But MAME should have just either recast Pete or followed the novel's timeline faithfully. This hybrid version satisfies no one.

I'm deeply uncomfortable with how the series handles consent. Kla's actions in S1 are glossed over with a 'time heals all wounds' narrative, and Techno's trauma is minimized. The fact that they end up together sends a harmful message. Also, the bizarre dynamic between Tin and Can—where Tin frequently invades Can's personal space without clear consent—is romanticized. The series never critically examines power imbalances. For a show that claims to be about love, it lacks respect for boundaries. Watchable only if you ignore the red flags.

I'll be honest: the OST is the reason I made it through this season. The main theme 'A Chance to Love' is incredibly catchy, and the ballad that plays during the final montage gave me goosebumps. The background music during Tul and Gonhin's emotional scenes is subtle but powerful. However, the sound mixing is uneven—sometimes dialogue gets lost under the music. I wish the production quality matched the music's potential, but at least my playlist got some new additions.

The cinematography is a downgrade from season one. Many scenes are flatly lit, the color grading is inconsistent (some shots look greenish, others orange), and the framing during dialogue is uninspired. The worst offense is the product placement for snacks and drinks—they are shot like commercials, completely breaking immersion. Compare this to the visual storytelling in 'Until We Meet Again' or even season one, and it's clear the budget was slashed. For a sequel, it looks cheap.

I only watched for Ae and Pete, and boy was I punished. Perth did an amazing job showing Ae's grief—his crying broke me—but without Saint, the story feels hollow. The recap episodes are a cruel joke: we already saw TinCan's origin, we didn't need it rehashed. The ending gave false hope with that blurry Pete figure. I respect the difficulty of working without Saint, but they should have either recast or not made this season at all. My heart hurts for Ae. Worst sequel ever.
