In the charming 30-minute Thai short film *Love Advisor*, we meet Kit, a quiet and observant fortune teller who reads the future in the patterns of tea leaves. He’s waiting at a cozy, pastel-hued café for his best friend August, a lively and charismatic charmer who seems to attract admirers effortlessly. When August arrives, he playfully asks Kit to read his love fortune, unaware that the fortune teller harbors a deeply hidden, long-standing crush on him. What unfolds is an intimate, raw, and beautifully tense conversation between two friends, sitting across a table, navigating the blurred lines between friendship and something more. Through playful banter, lingering glances, and moments of frustration, the film captures the agony of loving someone who sees you only as an advisor—a safe harbor for their romantic dilemmas. With a single setting and dialogue that feels almost confessional, *Love Advisor* is a poignant exploration of unspoken desire, the ache of secret longing, and the terrifying courage it takes to finally let the tea leaves reveal the truth.

I am absolutely in love with this short film! The way Kit and August look at each other, the tiny smiles, the way their voices waver when they talk about the kiss… it's everything. Their chemistry is off the charts—I felt every ounce of longing through the screen. 30 minutes of pure, aching romance. I'm ignoring the ending and pretending they lived happily ever after.

I get why people enjoy this, but the endless jump cuts and overexposed lighting really pulled me out of the story. I couldn't read Kit's expressions half the time because his face was in shadow. And that ending? I've read multiple interpretations and still don't know what happened. It felt like a cop-out instead of a meaningful conclusion. The dialogue is well-written, but the technical flaws hurt the overall impact.

Yes, the cinematography is highly stylized with its soft focus and blown-out backgrounds, but I absolutely adored that dreamy, art-house vibe. The slow zoom-ins and -outs mimicking the fortune teller's 'in and out' philosophy was a brilliant touch. Could we see every expression perfectly? No. But the hazy, intimate look perfectly matched the emotional haze these characters are trapped in. A visual feast for those who love unconventional framing.

This film is a fascinating case study in the frustration of one-sided desire and the power dynamics in a friendship where one person holds all the romantic cards. It realistically portrays the emotional labor of being a 'love advisor' to your own crush. However, I wish the film had explored August's perspective more—does he know? Is he using Kit? The ambiguity is realistic but left me feeling ethically uneasy about their dynamic. Still, a thought-provoking watch.
