In a breathtaking fusion of Philippine mythology and queer romance, *Libulan at Sidapa* reimagines the celestial love story between two ancient deities. When the mortal boy Bulan is reincarnated by the elemental forces LiDagat and LiHangin, he inadvertently becomes the youngest of the seven moon gods—gifted with a second chance at life but bound to a divine fate. After daring to steal the enchanted Trabungko, a powerful amulet that holds the balance of worlds, Bulan draws the attention of Sidapa, the enigmatic god of death. What begins as a cosmic pursuit transforms into a slow-burn romance that defies the boundaries of mortality, duty, and the stars themselves. With lush cinematography that brings the Philippine pantheon to life, this film weaves a tender tale of identity, found family among the moon siblings, and a love that dares to challenge the gods. A groundbreaking entry in BL cinema, it honors indigenous folklore while delivering a heartfelt, visually stunning love story that will linger long after the credits roll.

I was blown away by how beautifully this film weaves ancient Filipino folklore into a queer love story. The chemistry between Bulan and Sidapa is electric yet tender, and the moon deity family dynamics gave me all the found-family feels. A must-watch for anyone craving fantasy BL with cultural depth.

Visually stunning and culturally significant, but the pacing drags in the second act. The romance builds beautifully, yet the mythology exposition sometimes overwhelms the emotional core. Still, it’s a refreshing departure from typical BL tropes and worth watching for the cinematography alone.

The OST is absolutely mesmerizing—each track perfectly captures the longing and magic of the gods. I rewatched the scene where Bulan first sees Sidapa just for the music alone. This film deserves a full album release!

If you love a slow-burn romance that makes your heart ache in the best way, this is it. The way Sidapa looks at Bulan? I melted. Their love story feels timeless and pure—no unnecessary drama, just two souls finding each other across lifetimes. Instantly one of my top BL films.

I appreciate how the film handles themes of consent and autonomy within a divine hierarchy—Bulan isn’t just a passive love interest; he actively chooses Sidapa despite cosmic consequences. My only critique is that the female deity characters could have been more developed. Still, a landmark for LGBTQ+ representation in Southeast Asian fantasy.
