Burdened by crushing debt and fresh out of a dark chapter in his life, Mhok, a pragmatic technical college student, takes a high-paying job as a caregiver for Day, a once-promising badminton player now facing partial blindness from infectious keratitis. Day is prickly, defiant, and refuses to be pitied—he's determined to live his remaining months of sight on his own terms. But Mhok, unlike the parade of caretakers before him, sees beyond Day's disability. He treats him with blunt honesty, playful teasing, and unwavering respect, slowly chipping away at Day's walls. As they share meals, late-night conversations, and quiet moments of vulnerability, a bond forms that transcends caretaker and patient. Both are haunted by their pasts—Mhok by the loss of his sister, Day by the looming darkness—and together they begin to heal. However, when Day learns he has roughly 180 days until complete vision loss, their fragile happiness is tested. Can love truly be seen without sight? Last Twilight is a gorgeously tender drama about two souls finding each other in their darkest hour, learning that hope and connection are not bound by what the eyes can perceive. It's a story that celebrates resilience, challenges ableism, and asks what it means to truly see someone.

I'm not okay. This drama completely destroyed me and put me back together. Jimmy and Sea are pure magic—every look, every touch, every whispered 'I see you' felt like my own heart was being held. The way Mhok learns to be gentle without losing his fire, and how Day slowly opens up and trusts again... I cried for four episodes straight. The last two episodes? Controversial, I know, but for me, even the melancholy ending felt right because it showed that love isn't about sight—it's about choosing each other over and over. If you want a love story that makes you believe in soulmates, watch this now. Have tissues ready.

I wanted to love this as much as everyone else, but the writing really let it down in the second half. The first 9 episodes are genuinely excellent—slow, character-driven, with meaningful conversations about disability and grief. Then Episode 10 hits and everything becomes a rushed soap opera. The break-up plot feels manufactured and out of character, and the 3-year time skip in the finale is the laziest way to resolve conflict. Mhok's trauma over his sister is barely explored after the first few episodes, and Day's motivations become confusing. The ending, with Day getting his sight back, contradicts the entire message of accepting blindness as a valid way of living. Great acting and production can't fix a script that loses its way. Stop after Episode 9 for a perfect story.

Visually, this is GMMTV's most stunning work to date. Director Aof uses soft natural light, shallow depth of field, and intimate framing to make you feel Day's perspective—the blurry opening credits, the way Mhok's face comes into focus when he speaks, the golden hues of twilight scenes. Every shot is a painting. The color palette shifts from cold blues (isolation) to warm oranges (connection). Even the sound design is intentional—the silence when Day loses sight, the ambient sounds that replace visual cues. I could write an essay on the beach scene alone. The plot may have its flaws, but as a sensory experience, Last Twilight is a masterclass in visual storytelling. Absolutely gorgeous.

The music in Last Twilight is a character in itself. William's main theme 'Last Twilight' is heartbreakingly beautiful—that piano melody plays at every pivotal moment and I sobbed every time. The integration of Thai folk instruments with modern ballads gives it a unique, emotional sound. The song that plays during the Episode 9 climax? Perfect. Even the background score during tense scenes (like the breakup) is used effectively, though sometimes a bit too loud. My only complaint is that a couple of the instrumental cues were overused, but overall, this is one of the best OSTs in Thai BL. I've already downloaded the playlist and I listen to it on repeat.

I appreciate Last Twilight for its genuine attempt to portray disability with nuance and dignity. Day is not a tragic figure—he's angry, stubborn, and full of agency. The show explicitly critiques ableism, pity, and the 'inspiration porn' narrative. However, the ending undoes much of this good work. By having Day regain his sight, it implies that a 'happy ending' requires being 'fixed.' Also, Mhok's repeated lying 'to protect' Day raises consent issues—Day has a right to make decisions for himself, including about his own safety. The power dynamics between caretaker and patient are addressed but not fully resolved. Still, the series opens up important conversations about independence, vulnerability, and respect in relationships. Worth watching with a critical eye.

Can we talk about Night and Porjai? While everyone is obsessed with MhokDay, I found myself completely captivated by the side couple. Night's journey from guilt-ridden brother to someone who finds his own happiness was beautifully acted by Mark. The scene where he cries after being forgiven by Day? I felt that in my soul. Porjai is such a strong, independent single mother—their relationship develops slowly and realistically, with no toxic tropes. Yes, the wedding episode was a bit rushed, but their story gave the show emotional grounding. I wish we had gotten more scenes of them earlier, because they stole every moment they were on screen. Mark and Namtan deserved their own spinoff!
