Ever wondered what drives a man to cling to a lollipop like a lifeline? 'Kiseki+' dives deep into the enigmatic mind of Zhang Teng, the ruthless gangster antagonist from the hit Taiwanese BL series 'Kiseki: Dear to Me'. This 20-minute special episode rewinds the clock to explore the roots of his cold-hearted ambition and his obsessive compulsion for candy—a sweet façade masking a bitter, violent past. Through flashbacks and raw, introspective moments, we witness the betrayals and bloodshed that shaped him, offering a rare, sympathetic lens on a character often seen as pure menace. While it's an essential companion piece for superfans craving more of the gritty, neon-lit underworld, 'Kiseki+' stands alone as a moody character study that challenges our notions of villainy. It doesn't shy away from brutality, but it also asks: are monsters born, or are they made? With its signature blend of high-stakes action and poignant romance—albeit from a darker perspective—this special episode adds a rich, melancholic layer to the 'Kiseki' universe. Brace for a short but intense ride that leaves you questioning every lollipop's origin story.

I went in hoping for a deeper dive into Zhang Teng's psyche, but sadly the script felt rushed and the directing leaned too cheesy for my taste. The lollipop metaphor is heavy-handed, and Lin Pei Yu's performance, while committed, couldn't salvage the weak dialogue. Still, I appreciate that they tried to humanize a villain, and the atmosphere is moody enough to keep me watching. Only for completionists.

As someone who absolutely adored Kiseki: Dear to Me, this special hit me right in the feels! Finally understanding why Zhang Teng clings to that lollipop made me cry. Yes, it's short, but it's packed with emotional depth and beautiful, melancholic shots. I love that we got to see his vulnerable, broken side—it makes re-watching the main series so much richer. A must for anyone who loves complex villains with tragic backstories.

Where's the action? I came for the gangster punches and gunfights, and instead I got a 20-minute sob story about a lollipop. The flashbacks are slow and barely have any real violence. The main series had way better choreography. If you want a character study, fine, but I was bored. Skip this unless you're a hardcore completionist.

Visually, this special is a treat—the neon lighting, the dark alleyways, and the close-ups on Zhang Teng's face are pure cinema. The color grading shifts from cold blues to warm, sickly yellows perfectly mirroring his internal turmoil. The script is a bit weak, but the cinematography team deserves applause for making 20 minutes feel so immersive. I wish they'd put this much care into the main series' lighting throughout.

I appreciate the attempt to give a villain a backstory, but the episode romanticizes toxic behavior—the violence, possessiveness, and emotional manipulation are presented as tragic without real critique. The lollipop as a symbol of childhood trauma is clever, but it doesn't excuse the character's actions. For a BL audience that often looks for healthy relationships, this side story feels like a step backward. Still, it's short enough to not be harmful.
