Transfer student Amane Kaido arrives in the picturesque seaside town of Enoshima, carrying the weight of a past trauma that has made him cynical about love. On his very first day, he meets Ryuji Yamasuge, a kind-hearted classmate who works at his late father's restaurant. Despite Amane's guarded personality and tendency to hide behind a bright, fake smile, Ryuji sees through the facade with calm understanding. What begins as an unexpected friendship slowly blossoms into something deeper, as Amane finds himself drawn to Ryuji's unwavering sincerity. Unlike the fleeting, meaningless encounters of his past, this connection feels different—but Amane fears his own feelings. With mature, honest communication, no unnecessary misunderstandings, and a stunning coastal backdrop that mirrors their emotional journey, this series is a refreshingly wholesome take on young queer love. It captures the awkward sweetness of first love, the courage to be vulnerable, and the quiet beauty of two people learning to trust again. Short but packed with heart, 'Kimi to Nara Koi wo Shite Mite mo' is a gentle, soul-soothing watch that proves love can heal even the most guarded hearts.

I am absolutely in love with this series! Ryuji is the greenest flag ever – he’s kind, understanding, and never once makes Amane feel bad for his feelings. The way they communicate is everything I've been craving in BL. No ridiculous misunderstandings, just pure, sweet, honest love. The kisses in episode 5 made me cry! A perfect comfort watch.

While I appreciate the healthy relationship dynamics, the series is far too short to develop any real depth. The characters feel surface-level, and the kissing scene in the finale is disappointingly chaste – they barely touch lips. For a 5-episode run, it's pleasant enough but ultimately forgettable. I wanted more emotional complexity and less convenience.

This show is a visual treat. The seaside town of Enoshima is captured gorgeously – sunsets, ocean waves, cozy restaurants. The warm color grading perfectly matches the gentle tone. I also loved the framing of the characters against the open sky. It’s like a summer postcard come to life. If only there were more episodes to bask in that beauty.

As a fan of the original manga, I was nervous about the adaptation, but the show does it justice. It faithfully captures the essence of Amane and Ryuji's slow-burn romance, even streamlining some side plots. The actors embody the characters perfectly, and I actually prefer some of the show's changes – like the added seaside atmosphere. A rare adaptation that enhances the source material.

What sets this apart is its unapologetic and mature portrayal of a gay teen. Amane owns his sexuality from the start, and Ryuji’s response is a masterpiece of healthy masculinity – he asks questions, listens, and does not recoil. The series shows that coming out doesn’t have to be traumatic, and that love can bloom with mutual respect. A vital, gentle narrative for young queer viewers. The only miss is the lack of more physical intimacy, but the emotional intimacy is spot on.
