I'm absolutely obsessed with Jiu and Tian! Their chemistry is off the charts, even though they don't get enough screen time. Every moment they share is pure magic, and their love story is so tender and hard-won. I was crying happy tears by the end. This is the kind of adult, respectful romance I've been craving in BL.

I appreciate the ambition but the pacing is a mess. The first few episodes drag with repetitive family arguments, and the mystery solution is laughably convenient. The acting is hilariously over-the-top, which may be fun for soap fans but grated on me. That said, the brotherly bond between Tian and Yang is genuinely moving and makes up for many flaws.

The OST is phenomenal – that main theme song gives me chills every time. It perfectly captures the longing and heartache of Tian and Jiu's forbidden love. I've had the Chinese version on repeat for weeks. The music elevates every emotional scene, and the background score during the suspenseful moments is top-notch.

This drama tackles homophobia and societal pressure with surprising nuance for a lakorn. I loved how the female characters, especially the mothers, are given agency and complexity instead of being mere obstacles. The portrayal of coming out in a conservative era felt raw and honest. However, some of the violence and manipulation could have been handled more sensitively; it sometimes glorifies toxic control.

The costumes are absolutely stunning – I could watch a whole series just on the 1940s fashion. The color palette of deep reds and golds gives it a classic film feel. Unfortunately, the limited sets and some CGI (glitter murder!) break the illusion. Still, a visual treat for period drama lovers who can overlook a modest budget.
